We are lucky so far, no issues. However, I know if the electric goes down we are in trouble. I have a kerosene heater but nothing that will keep more than a room warm. The husband doesn’t take things as seriously as I do. We have a natural gas generator but he has never hooked it up and I don’t know how to use it. 🙁

I think the idea is good. I agree that it should just be a connector, like the auto trader papers are. I don’t sell a lot of tangibles. I provide services: bed and breakfast with a couple of special breakfast items. My place is a “safe” place for likeminded people.

I am currently studying Bitcoin (see link below). It can be a challenge for some to understand. Here is something that made my brain swirl: What is the US dollar backed by?

Even if I had a decent supply of gold or silver it is only worth what we make it worth. At one time beads and seashell were forms of currency. Plus, I can’t whittle off a piece of gold or silver to buy some flour.

The amount of Bitcoin I have might buy me a taco at Taco Bell, but I am looking into it. To say it is backed by nothing, well, so is the mighty dollar but I bet you have some of them.

  • Not sure if I’ve introduced myself here. I live in Kanawha County, WV. I have a pretty standard suburban lot. I started with some chickens and ducks about four years ago. Now I am trying to learn the suburban permaculture thing. LOL I am very bad with the “perfect in the way of the good” thing and need to completely understand something before I try it. However, and I am chipping away at it some.

I am trying some indoor hydroponic type things, sprouts mostly right now. I have so many irons in so many fires it is hard to keep up with all the things. 🙂

I really want to connect with more WVians. I am a member of the state group.

With Bitcoin you can “hold” it on a separate device, offline. Sort of like a thumb drive but different. You download your coin or parts of one, then you remove it from the computer and put it somewhere safe. A little like keeping gold or silver in a safe or vault. Except it is much smaller and lighter.

I ordered Gaia’s Garden last night. I listened to a couple of Spirkos youtubes today. I want to work out a way to transform my flowerbeds into mini gardens that don’t look like gardens. It probably should be easy, but my brain boggles when I try to think of companion plants that can go from spring to autumn, if not winter. I am in Zone 6b for plants. Most of my property would be zone 1 for permaculture. LOL I love the idea of a fruit bush hedge, like blueberry, but I have zero luck with them. I have some gooseberry slips I’m trying to keep alive, but failing at.
