That’s personal preference. If you are organic or want to be organic, you have to wait 3 yrs to be certified organic after using the seed.

It really depends on what herbicide is used.

Uneven watering. Tomatoes prefer a bit of moisture every day or two during summer. If you have dry conditions for a week and a heavy rain, tomatoes will split.

I use gallon glass jars to store seed. I keep seed in the fridge unless I’m planting. Fluctuations in temp. And moisture are the enemy of seed. Keep seed rotated. Cowpea, Allium and parsnip seed are short lived. Most other seed will survive storage for 3-6 yr depending on the type of seed. Keeping seed for a decade or two in a “vault” is a misnomer. Seed must be planted and fresh seed saved and replanted. This is how germplasm storage facilities work.

Fruit roll ups, if you have a dehydraytor.

Getting these in the ground will go a long way to restoring them. They do prefer moisture. Yes, pruning will help too. Prune out weak growth and cut back with a heading cut in areas you want to flush new growth. On really weak plants, cut back to about two nodes and the entire bush should flush out all new lush growth if they are cared for properly.

If you already compost and do it well, you are well on your way to having a combo hotbed/cold frame set up.

I suspect private groups will be behind a pay wall so I don’t care about free. I’m looking for a conservative home for my group. Mewe isn’t that place.

The splitting is still caused by uneven moisture. Some tomatoes sre prone to this, especially heirlooms. Perhaps water twice a day will work better later in the season. Was it drier in sept. Than earlier in the season? There is also looks to be insect damage on the tops from a chewing insect or mechanical scarring.

That depends on the percentage of active ingredient. It varies so the ratio changes. Are you using 71% or 56% etc.
