You will receive five different types of antibiotics and an instruction manual. One of the best decisions I think I made for myself. They now offer orders for children as well. I will be placing an order for my grandchildren next.

From day one with my chicks, I always add oregano oil to their waterers. They also have other waterers with apple cider vinegar. This helps with infections/worms. I recommend quarantining your sick chicken. Good luck with your chicken and the rest of your flock.

Rehomed pepper plants, goji berry, moringa tree, lemon tree and herbs to the greenhouse for the winter and almost finished planting the fall raised bed kitchen garden.

I have been fighting my way out of the cracks they keep trying to push me in that entire time. That being said, I am grateful for the care I do receive. It is the ultimate pain in the ass…. Hurry up and wait still applies! LOL! Thank you for your service to all my fellow vets!

I’m right there with you. 54 years young Grandma in Hertford county North Carolina (Northeast North Carolina). I started my solo self-sufficient journey about 4 years ago. I sold everything I had, including the house I raised my kids in. Became 100% debt-free two years ago. I “considered a field” and I bought it! Just finished harvesting and putting to bed my summer garden. Most of my winter garden is in. I have a flock of 15 chickens now. I am waiting on the last four biddies to start laying. I am studying about the care and keeping of either goats or pigs at this time. I have been pressure canning and putting back whatever I can for the past year. I have spent this past year preparing for the zombie apocalypse! I am tired. I feel alone on most days but, I keep planting anyway. Part of me wonders at times if I’ve over prepared and at other times I wake up in the middle of the night afraid I haven’t prepared enough. Food, water, shelter, security, clothing, heating and cooling, tea leaf reading! LOL! The checklist seems endless sometimes. To all the single ladies out there doing it ALL, I salute you. Together, we got this!

Definitely a lemon cucumber! I planted two seeds this year. They were so prolific they took over! I had to feed a lot of them to my chickens! Not that I’m complaining. I made dill and bread and butter pickles out of a lot of them and they came out awesome!

That sounds great! I’m trying really hard to step up my gardening game this year by expanding the gardens and starting a lot of my seeds indoors instead of direct planting a majority of them.

You spoke right to my heart when you made the comment about having to make a choice working outside in the yard/garden or working inside. I bought a fixer upper on some acres. Everything is dated and the kitchen is halfway demolished at this time. I am replacing windows slowly one at a time because the hours in the day do not allow me to replace windows and look after my garden and chickens at the same time! There is definitely a unique struggle to prioritizing when you’re doing it all yourself!

I love the idea of using a boat for a raised bed! Congratulations on your baby chicks!

That’sThat’s great! I live just south of the line in Hertford county. My kids are in Suffolk and Whaleyville….

Thank you! I’m in North Carolina. I will start looking for American guinea hogs in my area see what the availability is like.

Good to know! I will research those pigs tomorrow! This might sound like a dumb question but, do you get a sire for your pig? Like dog breeders do? I only want to start out with one or two pigs for meat purposes. But, should I decide on trying to sell piglets, how does one go about doing that?
