It does kind of clean it up like other social media sites, your feed only has the people you like or follow. But will new people to the site search out folks to follow?

@fortressk9 That is exactly my point with my comment on page 3 of this thread. A new person would sign up for Freesteading, go to the Activity feed, and have nothing but a blank page to stare at. What would they see or read if they have just signed up and not had a chance to connect/follow someone or subscribe to a Community/Forum, etc? I would unsubscribe if I were to see no activity to even know if I liked the new site.
It takes a newbie a while (depending on their tech ability) to navigate around the site much less know how to connect or follow someone. I think it would be detrimental to the site if the switch were flipped and we could only see comments/replies/updates from whom we follow or are subscribed to. I have found some really cool people here by reading something they posted or replied on, same with discussions in Communities. There is a lot of good info that is shared here by people I would never know about if I hadn’t seen their comment/post. That is how I have made most of my connections & follow…all in the activity feed. I can’t go to the members search and browse thru 1,000’s of people profile/timeline to see what they are all about. Same with the Communities & Discussions. I don’t have that kind of time to spend on here.

I agree. Flipping the switch will make this more like Facebook where I only see the same few people with the same type of topic all the time.

i try to look at all notifications whether I follow or not. Lots of good/great information out there all coming in. I am an info hog I guess, the more the better cause you never know what you will need/use on a day-to-day basis.

Sounds like an echo chamber concept.

There was a reason for everyone to join Freesteading, and that reason was a common one. So now some people want to break it up due to tech. glitch?

I have seen a few other smaller social media sites have like a flag that allows you to see global/everyone or your friends/who you follow. Might be a good option that gives the option for either!

I agree. Can you direct me to the activity feed? I am not being a smart alex. I truly cannot find it. I don’t know, do I have to be on a computer? I am on an older samsung J7 phone.
