Foraging idea #7 : Lambs quarter

Cleaned out the front plot today and had enough Lambs Quarter to use for dinner. I call it more by its German translated name white goose foot.

Tonight, I sautéed it with onions and added a sweeter spin to it by adding Gran berries and walnuts. 😋

Has anyone of you ever heard of drinking pickle juice as a sports drink ? Apparently it has everything or much of what your body/muscles need to function. I used to have a lot of calf cramps in my younger days and started drinking pickle juice, haven’t had cramps for a loooong time.

Problems truly multiply when dealing with people with anxiety and depression and having to take their emotional abuse, I know, I’ve been there, especially when this certain someone is not taking any medication for it. Maybe there’s a chance your daughter will consider doing something to help stabilize her moods so that a better communication can be established, even if it is on a natural basis.

Hen has some really good advice to look into.

I’ll pray for your strength and that your needs be meet and everything to fall in place. 🙏

Just picked up a coal BBQ a couple of days ago and had it for baking bread in mind. Now I definitely need to get a pizza griddle.

Wow, how great to read that I’m not alone with the clutter issue.

Our former house was somewhat bigger with a bigger basement. Though we had a massive yard sale, we didn’t get rid of quite enough so that our house now is sort of packed to the brim with old and new stuff. Even in our two car garage is barely enough room to for my tools.

I’m actually at the point where I just want to get rid of everything we can’t use in a shtf situation. I’m tired of trying to clean and there is something in every corner of every room. I think it’s important to have at least one room that is absolutely clutter free just to be able to breathe and not constantly being bombarded with the inevitable.

My point of view changed quite a bit over the last couple of years to an extent that I almost want to live in the house on prairie with nothing but the necessities, but, unfortunately, this is not the future we’re heading into.

And, yes, my husband has problems with letting go and that includes “stuff“ and while I’m planning a yard sale my husband just bought two vases at a yard sale. 😩

As far as I know, the native variety only has stingers at the bottom of the leave, the European has them on top as well as on the bottom.

Nettle is an anti-inflammatory, blood cleansing and more and used for all sort of stuff from joint pain, anemia, allergies, headache and much more.

I often use it when I’m soar at the end of a day from working in the garden in teas as a basis with other herbs like knotweed or peppermint depending on how I feel.

Generally you would use one good teaspoon of dried nettle to a regular size mug. Depending on your mixture and #of herbs, you can adjust the amount. Steep for about half a minute and sip. I usually leave the steeper in much longer, still taste great.

Nice, is it the native version ? I have the European nettle. Love all the aspects of Nettle, from fertilizer to medical tea. Don’t need comfrey when you have nettles. 👍
