Delicious is a very weird way to describe honey that tastes like garlic. LOL I love garlic. I love honey. Together they taste like garlic-tasting honey. No, the taste does not get better or worse. But it’s very beneficial to put into tea or a hot toddy when you’re sick. If it’s raw honey, you don’t want to put it into boiling water and kill all the beneficial bacteria, but drinkable hot water is fine. It’s a good support for colds. But if you face a real throat issue, yarrow tincture gargle might be better. It’s also an antibiotic and effective against strep. I got strep (I work at a school) and while everyone was on antibiotics, feverish and miserable, I gargled with yarrow three times a day and in 12 hours felt fine and 3 days later stopped gargling with it.

    Great tips, thanks!

These cups we have are only 12 ounces and they are rather expensive, but I got one of these for my husband because it was a travel French press for his coffee.

Without the press in it, it’s just a thermal cup, but OH! what a thermal cup! I’ve put ice and water in it and had it in a hot car for 3 hours in the middle of summer while I was running errands and in the store more than in the car and THERE WAS STILL ICE AND COLD WATER in it. I was shocked. I use mine for hot or iced tea all the time now.

So if you need to keep something really cold for some time, these work great. https://www.espro.com

I have used movers once and the rest of the times, I have moved by shipping boxes or shoving everything in and on the car, including the kids and a pet bird. I have moved across country more times than I thought I would and out-of-country and back. I have lived in 43 different houses in my 64 years so I don’t tend to own much, but when the kids, husband, and I moved to a new state once, we did hire movers and it was awesome to just have everything delivered to us and not have to completely start over again. Do what’s best for you.

Mothewort tincture can be taken to help prevent clotting. You can take 10-20 drops every 20 minutes if necessary. Motherwort is called “bypass in a bottle” because of its beneficial effects on the circulatory system. You can also take hawthorn berry tincture for a healthy heart in addition. The mothewort tincture should be made from FRESH flowering tops and leaves. The hawthorn berry tincture can be made from fresh or dried berries.

Z-library (https://z-lib.is) used to have most of them, but the FBI confiscated the site a few months ago. Now I’m not sure who runs this site so I’m not likely to download. Could be the original people, but could be the feds, so I’m not guaranteeing anything. Free downloads of all kinds of books.

She’s good! The IRS has been asking for reporting of barter for ages. But isn’t barter is the same as purchase? How do they classify it as needing to be reported? I am not required to report items I trade for using dollars which are my hours of labor that has been taxed (and which is also taxed dozens of times more), but I am required to report items I trade for using hours of my labor (skilled work OR fruits of my labor) that has NOT been taxed. And that’s the difference according to them. They want to tax your every move. If things get really weird, just don’t barter. GIVE. If you never say the words barter or exchange or payment, you’re in the clear. “I would like to give you an evening of baby-sitting.” “Thank you so much. One day next week, I would like to give you a nice looking front lawn.” “Aren’t you lovely!” It’s a technicality. But it can’t be taxed. Yet.

Fresh yarrow tops, 100 proof alcohol, and 6 weeks. Strain. This gal is very good at showing how to do things traditionally. You can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wd7BNMrYo7k

It sure was nice when we had movers. My back isn’t want it used to be so if I did it again, I’d hire movers.

That’s very true. We ended up having to place our rows east to west originally but that allowed us to plant more shade loving plants on the north side as we get brutal summer sun. In the end I gave up gardening because either the snails get it in spring, the grasshoppers throughout summer, or the sun kills everything regardless of how we water it. 5 years of losing everything or simply growing nothing was enough of that nonsense. We grow only roots and tubers now and established patches of perennial foods, such as stinging nettle, that once established provides food and I don’t have to garden those. I also grow perennial and annual medicinal plants but they are all weeds so I don’t have to do much. I can live without tomatoes and domesticated plants. They are more trouble than they are worth. I get more food doing next to nothing than when I tried to garden.

BTW, there’s an old book out called Folk Medicine by a Vermont doctor D.C. Jarvis MD. It’s old but goes back to some down-home stuff you don’t hear about anymore.

To understand how to work with plants and make medicines from them, I would start with Healing Wise by Susun Weed. It only highlights 7 plants, but it goes into such detail, it gives you an excellent view of how to approach plants you might be interested in working with. Then I would get a good field guide for your area as most plants can’t be found in stores or grow in gardens but are available in local fields and forests. Making Plant Medicine by Richo Cech is great but I don’t agree with some of his preparation methods as I come from a very different line of thinking regarding application of herbal medicines, but he’s very thorough and knows his stuff. You might want to watch the YouTube video channel She Is Of The Woods with April Graham. She teaches all about plants and how to make medicines from them simply and understandably. I don’t really do herbal books, per se, because they are all so contradictory. I learn by comparing info from many sources and using the plants myself. A couple of good ones though are both volumes of A Modern Herbal by Mrs. M Grieve and surprisingly, The Lost Book of Herbal Remedies which I thought would be terrible but gives some good basic info in a completely understandable way. Stephen Buhner’s Herbal Antibiotics and Herbal Antivirals are very comprehensive and really overkill (no pun intended) as the treatment combinations are super specific and almost impossible to create, but he explains a lot of the science of infection, viruses and antibiotics and it’s worth it for that.
