I use empty water bottles to fill in large pots. Keep the caps on so they don’t crush and it keeps the water and soil from getting inside. Be sure to shake it to get the soil to settle between the bottles and eliminate most of the air spaces.

That looks like nasturtiums to me. Were the seeds about pea sized and wrinkly? Likely nasturtiums.

Hmmmm, sore throat…..That’s how our daughter’s Covid started. Couple days later, both my husband and I caught it as well. But ours started with a dry cough and runny nose. Followed by one day of feeling tired and that was the worst of it. I hope he and the Misses and doing okay.

We moved 25 years ago, now I wish we had gotten fruit trees planted back then, maybe even a woodlot.

I haven’t had to try this yet, but perhaps it would work for you. I found it on Pinterest.

What about a button/switch that let’s us choose? Sometimes you want to see everything and sometimes there’s just not enough time and you only want to see those you follow.

And….my brother’s goats also like to get on the serving shelf outside my kitchen window, its four feet off the ground. Many times I’ve looked up and seen a goat looking back at me. How do they get up there?

My brother has goats—8 with two more on the way. You need GOOD fences. They are escape artists and smart. We have seen the buck raise up, stand on the top of the fence and let everyone out. He also lifts up the fence to let them out. My brother can’t keep them contained (at the moment). His year-end bonus will be spent on electric fencing.

They have eaten my garden, flowers, and lounge on my patio furniture. They climb all over our cars and have damaged the paint on all three. The worst is, they love our front porch. Instead of sleeping in their shed, they sleep on our porch. I can’t tell you the mess they make and the smell is getting worse. Heaven help those who come to our front door before we have a chance to clean up.

On the good side, they are browsers and have cleared all the brush under and around our trees (looks nice).

Our neighbor’s cows (yrs ago) kept getting out as well. They will test the fencing. These cows ate our corn. But that’s all I know about cows.

Hate to be so negative, but these are the problems I’ve encountered, but remember the adage, “Good fences make good neighbors”. These are solvable problems.

    Good luck!

Was quite cold here last night in the Arkansas River Valley. We had snow during the day, but not enough to cover the ground completely. We got all our laundry and dishes done, then turned off the water at the well house to protect the pipes, just in case; gave extra blankets to the dogs and another quilt on our bed. Last time I checked, it got down to 2 degrees with wind chill to -17 (winds 15-16 mph). Right now (11:30 am) it’s still only 15 degrees. Brrr!

I’m holding out as long as possible. I know my husband will turn the heat on when I’m not looking. Yes, it was cold in the house this morning. I took the dogs out and it was so chilly, BUT….when I came back in, the house felt so toasty! I told my husband, before you turn on the heat, go outside for 5 minutes and the house will be warm as toast when you come in.

Unfortunately, Tuesday night will get down to the low 20’s. I predict the aroma of cooking dust bunnies in the air Wednesday morning—

    Johnson Co, AR

We had a brief heavy thundershower late this morning. Even included some hail. It laid down the dust, but not enough for a good soaking.

    Try this website: https://www.schneiderpeeps.com/uses-for-beeswax-candles-salves/

Bees wax is a healthy alternative. “Beeswax has antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties (if it’s not heated above 250°F during processing), it’s food safe and smells wonderful. It can be used in toiletries, and in home and garden projects”

Hot is really hot? A bear has taken out my hives twice now. Before I buy more bees, I want to get it right.
