Interested in the replies from knowledgeable folk. BiggKidd, are you expecting the trusses to carry anything other than the weight of the roofing materials, insulation, possible snow (what is your area’s snow load), perhaps a bit of wire and piping, or will it be structural for the living space?

I’m kinda considering something similar, but of course different dimensions due to my property, likey a fairly custom build as it will likely be somewhat triangular, with a single sloping roof @ about 30 degrees for solar water and power panels etc.

I did find this, for those like me that are like, “what do you mean there are different kinds of trusses?”

There is a little magnifying glass at the top of the page, you can use it to search the site for “flow hive” and have access to all the previous conversations. (or other topics as well)

Gold standard would likely be freeze drying, but seeing as that’s not an option for most of us, at minimum, vacuum seal. Not sure if an oxygen absorber would help or hurt. Some things it turns into a bit of a brick.

I just think the AR should be the “State Weapon of Arkansas”, and celebrated as such with parades, and speeches, and flags, and…. (after all, our abbreviation is: “AR”)

and remember.. “Diversity” of species, views, and information, makes us stronger. Mono-opinions are as bad as mono-cultures in plants.

So again, does he have citations from actual cases of tetanus that occurred due to contact with composted manure from non-vaccinated horses? Remember, they are supposed to be “research-based”, so.. ask to see the research.
I believe wholeheartedly in Science. But it’s a process, a tool used to find things out, and when done properly is quite eager for questions and challenges. Anytime you meet someone promoting “science” that does not welcome discussion, questions, and challenge, take the information for what it’s worth.
I applied for the local 4-H agent position twice in the county I’m moving from, but when they found out I pull information from more than simply the limited font of corporate-funded universities, I was deemed unworthy. My failure to genuflect at the alter of academia also resulted in being declared persona-non-grata at any 4-H event. VE ARE SCIENCE! YOU VILL NOT QUESTION!
(and yet, I routinely direct new gardeners to the extension office for local and basic information, only admonishing them that there are other sources of tried and tested information as well, read widely, experiment liberally)

Was this from a “master gardener” (university-backed) class? Could they cite any actual research, studies etc that backed this up?

“Spores of tetanus bacteria are everywhere in the environment, including soil, dust, and manure” (see linked citation)

So it’s basically everywhere anyway, part of the problem nowadays is people somehow seem to think we can live in a sterile or sanitary world. We can’t, we either have a good immune system or we don’t, and like muscles, the best way to grow strong is good nutrition and exercise (meaning, not shying away from routine exposure to everyday bacteria and viruses.

Dunno bout that. I’m a bit of a Tom McDonald, and Adam Calhoun fan, and in my mid 50s (but I used to listen to a lot of Too Short, Heavy D, Slim Shady and the like), but I also love my classical, bluegrass, Simon and Garfunkle, Manhatten Transfer, Big Band.. I just like music.

yeah, I had made an extract from the green balls as an experiment, and almost exactly at the 6-month mark of it steeping, I got “the thing”. I used Tylenol for fever and extract 3x a day and though I did get the icky symptoms, within 3-4 days I was recovering. Never lost smell, or taste or any other lasting effects (other than possibly a bit more cranky, if that’s possible)

just out of curiosity, I went to the website and scrolled down. They list the included antibiotics and some “sample prices”. for the Cipro which they show as 28-500mg. Cipro is a single drug, not a combination, thus it appears you may get a 28mg (I don’t even know that exists) up to 500 mg. The referenced prices are exceedingly high, as goodrx has 14 500mg for like $8, meaning 24 tabs would be $16. This borders on price gouging because they advertise essentially to preppers.

I’m an RN, though I’m pretty much disgusted with our so-called “health care” system. I’d highly suggest first, checking prices with your pharmacist (or at least on Goodrx) and then bring your concerns to your primary care provider. If you are not comfortable talking to your primary care provider, why do you go to them?

I don’t know, this just makes me nervous, but we are all independent free people, so.
