Machine was sold on Craigs list. Worked great for grinding wheat berries and rice.

We are in the same boat as your friend. Tax season hit us hard, so purging our seldom used (but still working) items to recover some of the expense. We need to a find a way to communicate without posting names, addresses, emails and financial transactions in a public forum. Could be Freesteading is not the place to do that right now. Do you have any ideas?

Stupid phone I could not get my message to post correctly. Yes, the Wondermill needs a new home; not enough room in the pantry. I have done white rice also, but no corn. I bought it 4 years ago and have been making flour with wheat grain I get from an organic grower in Montana.

It is the fat from around the kidneys of a pig. I counted 3 videos where DSH addressed rendering lard on their YouTube channel. They explain it much better than I can. Cooked my eggs in the lard this morning; totally different; tasted soooo good. We received 3 lbs frozen, then put it in refrigerator overnight and cut into 1″ cubes while it was firm. It took us about 3 hours to render on medium heat, stirring often so it does not burn. Had to add a slice of cornbread to dip into the eggs. It will become a staple for us.

Have to make time to manage them but they are worth it

Thanks, never see then before. My neighbor has chickens. So looks like they will have a snack this afternoon.

Last year was the first time we planted Kuroda carrots; they turned out awesome. The only issue was not planting enough. I am in zone 9B so have to wait a few more weeks till daytime temps are cooler. We planted in 20 gallon containers in the high tunnel over winter with not issues. Danny’s carrot manual is spot on.

This is my first year planting Danny Corn. I noticed what looks like new roots. This at the base of one of my stalks. Tassels have sprouted and cobs are silking. What is happening?

Same problem here. Except for the black widows the frogs and praying mantis have been feasting on all the insects in our the High Tunnel. I do like the peppermint idea. Will give it a try.

Planted 2 beds of Crimson Clover last season and they were
fantastic. No invasion issues. Plan to plant lots more this season. White clover was OK but not cover as much as
Crimson. Could be the seed stock. Bees loved both. As far as invasive I will send you some Star
Thistle and crab grass. Struggle with both in zone 9B.- This reply was modified 2 years, 1 month ago by Foxy_Pocket.

I am in zone 9B and had petty good luck rooting Mission and Kadota figs from suckers. Have a Brown Turkey fig that will be ready to plant next season. Starts were a little slow at first but going into year three they really took off. All my trees (including starts) are on drip irrigation. I do limit the direct sun exposure on my starts the first year. For me scraping about 1″ of the bark off the root ends and dipping them in Rooting Hormones works best. I fill 3″ x 3″ x10″ plastic tree pots with fresh seed starting soil.
Trying some Asian Pear suckers right now, so far the leaves are still intact, will see come spring.
