I’ve always been a pantry cook (not shopping for certain meals, but keeping plenty of ingredients on hand, stocking up during sales, etc), and I’ve gardened and canned off and on. When Killery ran for POTUS, we got serious…

I hand quilt, crochet, mend, embroider and refinish furniture. Would enjoy a group like this.

I like Pinetree, Fedco (you can buy larger quantities, not just little packets), Peaceful Valley, and Mary’s Heirloom Seeds. Mary’s is a 1-woman operation and kindly sent me a variety of seeds as a donation for our school garden.

Your biggest obstacle would be damaging the roots when transplanting. If you used a biodegradable pot that could be transplanted along with the plant (without removing it), you would stand a better chance. In my experience, peat pots don’t actually break down, but CowPots do (made from compressed cow manure). You could also try making your own out of newspapers, but I have never personally done that. It’s an interesting idea, and I may give it a try myself this year.

I take leftover turkey or chicken and make a white sauce with onions. Melt in some cheddar cheese. Put that in a 13×9 baking dish. Make a batch of biscuit dough and roll it our like you would for cinnamon rolls. Spread leftover cranberry sauce on it, then roll up and slice. Place that on the meat mixture and bake. We are having this tomorrow, will try to remember to snap a photo to share.

On weekends, I try to cook several meals so that I can freeze them for weekday lunches. We eat simply and a lot from the garden, whether fresh, frozen or canned.

My hubby and I just moved to a tiny town in SW PA from AZ in 2020 to be closer to his folks. Plus, we were tired of the hot, dry city. We are empty nesters, both working at the local school. Even though we only have a 9,000 sf lot, we are turning the entire backyard in to food production. 10×28 greenhouse, chicken/rabbit run and garden. We won’t be totally self-sufficient, but are doing everything we can on our little property.

I have started extra veggie plants and sold them in the past. Hoping to do that again this coming spring.

Well, saturated fat has been villified by the governmental alphabet agencies for years, and look where that has gotten us…
I would rather have the saturated fat off of a good, grass-fed hunk of beef than the garbage produced in a lab. Just sayin’
