Since you asked, the ability to “like” comments would be cool, as well as the ability to “dislike” posts and comments.
Internet points are silly, but the ratio can be a great way to assess how people feel about different ideas.
Also, I’m not seeing an “off” option for individual notifications, only “email” and “web.” Is that in the works?
Lastly, I’m having trouble understanding the the implementation of forums here. I get having groups centered around certain people (though I hope that more will be created around topics in the future), and I understand the Q&A feature being linked to individual groups, but it seems to me that the forum portion might be more helpful and accessible if wasn’t fractured and compartmentalized between separate groups.
It just seems to me that once the activity feed becomes more curated and only shows updates in groups to which a user is subscribed, we might miss out on all sorts of useful information posted in groups to which we aren’t subscribed. The current model would make sense to me if this were reddit or communities.win where every topic under the sun has a home, but since this entire platform has the same basic theme, there’s bound to be plenty of overlap in the topics discussed in different groups.
Whether or not the above idea are considered or implemented, I love it here and look forward to expressing my appreciation via a paid subscription when available. Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen!
Good Idea Fairy out.

I tried to edit a poorly worded comment, and got a “You can not edit this post tight now” error. I decided to just delete and rewrite it instead. No error message, but the old post didn’t delete either.

This is especially important given that the farm life seems to be your dream, not his.
My wife is a city girl from Amsterdam, and I’d have thrown myself in a canal if she had tried to force me into that lifestyle. My wife and your husband deserve a great deal of credit and patience for agreeing to humor us in the first place when they’d probably prefer a lifestyle that we’d be absolutely miserable living.
There is plenty of room on a farm for a techy types, especially if he can actually install things. Maybe he’d be interested in setting up a security camera system that has on-site storage and can send motion alerts to your phone. Maybe he can rig chicken coop doors that automatically open and close with the sun. Techy people seem to enjoy solving problems, so maybe he’s beter suited to help you come up with creative ways to solve problems than he is to flipping compost and shoveling manure.
Also depending on the profitability of the particular flavor of tech nerd stuff that he’s into, you might be better off having him behind a keyboard than behind a pitchfork. A guy that can make $50 an hour typing is wasting his time by doing work that he could pay someone else $10 an hour to do.
Lastly, kids love to work. If I had known that I wanted this life 10 years ago, I’d have had a lot more sons.

That’s really encouraging, thanks for sharing. I think I’ll try the same thing!

You guys are awesome, thank you!

The Japanese guy was Masanobu Fukuoka, and the book that Billy recommended (and so do I if that matters) was “The One-Straw Revolution.”

Good for you! They put out a lot of excellent information. I didn’t fully appreciate how vaulable the information they’re sharing was until I paid someone else to tell me the same thing. Now I’m taking a permaculture design certificate course and refering back to Perma Pastures Farm videos on YT when I want to see a concept or technique applied to a real situation.

Good for you! I just paid a lot of money to learn pretty much the same information that Billy and his family are teaching for free. I couldn’t fully appreciate how vaulable the information they’re sharing was until I paid someone else to tell me the same thing.

That could mitigate spam, porn, scammers, what-have-you.
For irritating (yet not quite illegal or T&C violating) content/users, the block button works. Click it and that user disappears from your reality.

I think as long as it stays dark, dry, and cold it’s dormant and unaffected by the lack of oxygen. My wife has tried explaining it to me a dozen times, but bread isn’t my lane so I could be wrong.
