Supposed to get another cold day this Sunday. Our homestead is usually about 5 degrees colder than the surrounding area. We are on a hill with a large pasture across the street and timber on the east and west. Creates a bit of a cold pocket.

I would definitely plant some and save some. Maybe half it. You need new seeds, obviously the fertility diminishes quickly. I’m guessing they’re a good size bean. The ones you keep, I would keep as cool as possible.

I love this discussion. It really gets you thinking. I honestly had never thought about filtering the air before the derailment. That is quite a mess isn’t it! Leaving everything to seek refuge somewhere else with hopes it doesn’t happen there or reach that area….that would be very hard. What about accessing clean food like we’ve been growing in another location? For me, I think that would be a point where I just trust the Lord to handle it. I would definitely do what I could to stay safe and care for my family, but you can’t truly be protected from everything. I would just do the best with what I had.

Love this! Many people assume you have to have oxygen absorbers for grain. While you can, it’s not necessary. Look at how Joseph stored their grain for 7 years in the Bible! He didn’t use OA’s!

We are far out in the country, Louisiana, and we have streaked skys. 😞 Not as often as more populated areas, but seems you can’t get away from it!

For me, I like where we are but my husband would love to be in the mountains. I do wish we had a creek coming through our property though! That would be ideal. Solar panels and all that are great, that’s on the dream list- but a creek! A creek that is running downstream through my property would be awesome. Maybe one day! 😉
