I too have tried to shake the bell into submission. No matter what I do that one non existent or unknown message remains to be on that bell.
I guess it is a matter of patience. The freesteading sight is new so a ghost message or two may come up in glitches as the kinks are unkinked.
With the abundance of friendship and information I’ve encountered so far I can live with an unexpected glitch or twelve.

Politicians never make a single law without a loophole for them or their friends. Sometimes we have to play their games in order to have a win.
I heard of a farmer who couldn’t sell his fresh eggs without them being cleaned, sorted and FDA stamped. His work around… there was no law saying that he couldn’t rent or sell an egg carton and fill it for free.
In many places you cannot sell processed meats. You can however sell a live animal and offer a free processing class if theres no law against it.
My suggestion on the freeze dried foods would be to sell the food but offer a free complimentary vacuum bag they can seal themselves or with your assistance right there on the spot.
Politicians rarely break the rules they write they merely go around them. It’s been a thorn in the side of freedom lovers for decades. So why not return the thorn?!

This is the same science that once thought x-raying feet at shoe stores was a good idea, the same science that once promoted cigarettes for stress reduction, the same science that use to dish out the original coke with cocaine in it and also the same science that thought a lobotomy was a cure all for many. These folks okay’d roundup, zantac, food dyes that are banned elsewhere,…. the list goes on and on. I trust most science but when it comes to government approved science and pharmaceutical science I have every right to be a skeptic and anyone with any common sense would do the same. The whole “Trust the science” line is purely, intentional propaganda for profit and control. Why so many sheep willingly trust the wolves is beyond me.

MemberSeptember 2, 2022 at 12:53 pm in reply to: Let’s Talk about Programming and Propaganda! That’s exactly how it should be categorized…. bought science.
Bought science has a master that holds the strings.
The master of true science is curiosity. The only strings to it are the hypothesis, tests and results of those who dare to be curious. Even they admit they get it wrong sometimes or answers are limited by their testing capabilities.
One other category of science I suppose is vanity science. Those who only seek acclaim will present faux science as fact just as easily those that are bought. Both are equally dangerous to society and a scourge to the art of science.

I’ve read in many books and articles about the natives using honey for wounds. I know pure honey doesn’t spoil. It will crystallize but that’s about as close as it’ll get to going bad. Even that can be remedied with a little heat and moisture. One article I read on native remedies talked about using a stick to collect spider webs. You then coat the webbing in honey and use the combination over the wound as a bandage. Never tried to unwind spider webs myself though. With my luck I’d accidentally collect some angry spiders lol.

MemberSeptember 1, 2022 at 12:37 am in reply to: The Unwilling to Participate SpouseA little note here. Cats don’t like double sided sticky tape. Place it strategically where you don’t want them to be. Not only will they learn not to go there but they’ll also tell on themselves when they fly by you at 80 miles an hour trying to get the tape off their paw 😆. We have four indoor cats and there’s a reason they don’t do counter tops lol.
If that’s not your style though they typically don’t like surfaces covered in foil so you may want to try that instead.

MemberSeptember 1, 2022 at 12:06 am in reply to: The Unwilling to Participate SpouseI’m fortunate that our home has decent solar angle but I believe it was done simply because of the terrain. The downstairs is a walkout basement and the temp there stays pretty cool even on the hottest days. The windows in the home are plentiful and well positioned so we only turn on a few lights and that’s usually only when it’s late into the evening. We also take care in what windows we open along with how much we open them. The right combination allows the hot air upstairs to escape while pulling cool air up from the downstairs. There’s a lot of passive systems I plan to add but right now there’s still much to be done with the necessary repairs.

I’ve tried to tell those who want to go offgrid to consider passive heating and cooling. Unfortunately many think a couple more solar panels and batteries are all they need for air conditioning. That’s really only a band aid on the problem. Thoughtful building and passive systems do a lot to save on expenses like solar panels and batteries. Plus the maintenance is minimal and won’t need replacing every few years.
