I had an idea… For Tattler lids thought I would try cutting out some silicone rings to replace the rubber rings…

When i tried to check to see if anyone else did this, I found this video.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBsnMbZ8WMg

She is have success with her rings cut from silicone sheets. I was thinking if this worked well one could sharpen the end of 2 pipes, and then hammer out the rings with a backing of wood…

I wondered about being able to do something like this! Glad someone figured out a practical and more cost effective way.😀 Thank you for sharing.🌻

Yeah, I am thinking of buying a silicone baking sheet for doing this.

The best tool I have found so far to cut out the rings is leather punches.

I was not aware one could buy silicone rings for jars already as she shows in this video.

I wonder if a cricket machine would be beneficial in creating the perfect sized rings

I didn’t know you could buy silicon canning rings!🤯 I have already been reusing the pasta lids.

I have that pampered chef mat but I don’t think I could cut mine bc I use it for pies and I also put cookies on it when out of over or making no bake cookies. It better than using wax paper or foil to buy, I can just reuse my mat but I will keep in the back of my head that I can cut it if I need to can and there are none to buy😉

I have no idea how well they work, but they are sold on ebay.

You can get them precut to various sizes, I guess one could get a pair of scissors and test them.

I would only do experiments in that you put the food in the fridge after you finished to see if the seal works if it does not work you could still eat the food…

What impressed me is that she was able to take an old ring that did not work, and make it work with this method.

The wide pints, nothing to lose, as I also have the old fashion jars to use them on if it didn’t work.

Can you please give a link to the ones you got that worked -> silicone gaskets? I would like to compare sizes.

The ones I had purchased when the lids were in short supply are not available anymore. Since then, I acquired plenty of lids.

Consider the inserts to the white lids they sell.

Also, what I also did, was reused the lids. Boil them for about 10 min so that the seal softens again. They worked for me as I waited to find replacement lids
