ATTENTION FREESTEADERS!!!!!!!

I’m not exactly sure what this means. Does follow mean the groups I’ve joined? Because I don’t follow anyone, I don’t think. But I like the Activity Feed because I get to see things in groups I may not have joined and I see folks’ posts and I’m probably not going to sift through all the individual members to see who I want to follow just to see what they may randomly say now and then. I like it the way it is.

This is what FB did – sort of. Their algorithms decide what and who I see and it used to just be a news feed in chronological order. Every day, I’d scroll through the day and then get off. I like doing that here. Just scroll through and see if there’s anything that piques my interest, then I can always go to the group or topic if I want.

I believe your way of thinking aligns with most people. We wait and see what happens?

I prefer it the way it is because there are people I probably wouldn’t see otherwise .I narrow things down by subscribing to my state or states I wish to follow. There are such a variety of topics out there that you may want to contribute to the conversation but not particularly follow anyone that I would miss.

I love the idea of a “global” switch. So that you can see all or only subscriptions. #globalbutton

We are a growing community. This is how some find out about others. Those who are community leaders, get all sorts of followers, yet others who are not, do not get the same response. And some have some great content. With this, I have been a little frustrated, as I get tons from the community leaders I follow, yet I have to scroll through to read what other members are sharing in good content.

I’m not sure what the answer will or should be, but in my attempt to avoid stress, I simply share in the feed. If people want to watch, subscribe to my YT or follow me here, that’s all good.
I do struggle in the community groups, b/c if I see a response, I have to scroll through so much, I lose interest as I can’t always find that notification post/response. No intention to be rude or uncaring, simply not desiring to spend my day filtering through everything, as for me, my mental health requires “balance”.

Much love and care to all,

I am so done with notifications! I cleaned up about 25 last night and I hate having to open each one and then go down to the bottom of my iPad to trash each one….it is a royal pain. This morning I got on to find someone sent me probably at least 100 scam messages. I am not going to open and trash each one individually, not doing it. There needs to be a way to select some or all and trash in one push of the finger. Simply will not click on notifications again because it is futile and a waste of time. I will go to certain forums and that’s it. If someone leaves a messages for me, I may see it, I may not……

Why don’t you just go to view notifications and use the BULK option and DELETE ALL THEM AT ONCE WITHOUT OPENING THEM🤔🤔🤔🤔

It’s a delicate balance for the site creators to keep functionality while encouraging growth through ‘cross pollination’ of interests. I’ve suggested to Tag, a “toggle” on the top level (I use the desktop site) between “firehose” and “responses from my threads/my interests”.

I would venture to say at least 50% of people DON’T use desktop computers anymore. Most are using laptops and phones. Those features don’t work on them. I guess I am wondering WHY you don’t just scroll through respnses to you unread and just delete all the other?

I got the new app in the App Store. I was able to turn off the email notifications. Thank you!

Go to your notifications settings and turn off the notifications you don’t want to see.

I don’t typically spend much time learning a sites features, but I have noticed finding them is user friendly. “Notification” …. Where is it?

Interesting! “Notification” is about the only capability one can make a change to?

I have ALL of the notifications turned off and still get about 100 per week. So something is not right.

If you haven’t yet, make sure they are off in the App as well as the website. That’s what fixed it for me.

I like the idea of a button to let us choose. I am new and follow only like 6 people. I find new people by being able to see postings from others. Please don’t limit me to just a few new postings. I think new people would rather see a list of the new and latest that is going on rather than a blank screen. Thanks for the chance to offer up an opinion on such a big change.

I vote to leave it like it is. How will people meet new people with new perspectives unless it is left like it is?

I vote to leave it be for now. I like seeing new ppl who join and ppl whom I don’t yet follow.

It would be great if notifications could be changed so that I don’t get those for everything regardless of my setting to only see replies to my posts.

Thanks for all the work you do to keep this site great!

Jmho, don’t flip the switch yet. . I don’t see a lot of activity in the groups that I follow right now. So I like seeing posts from groups that I haven’t yet found or chosen to join. It gives me something to weigh my decisions on.

You should still be able to see posts from everyone in the community from the newsfeed even if you don’t follow anyone.

I honestly like the open newsfeed that shows posts from the entire community. That way we can interact with new people. I just wish the notifications we recieved were only from the people and groups we follow.
