I am currently taking online classes with herbalist Elizabeth Heck through Udemy. It’s video classes. Very detailed, very in depth. She’s also offered reliable sources for books, herbs, products, etc. I started out wit my herbs from a local company I’ve known for years, Phoenix Herbs, and also with Mountain Rose Herbs and Frontier Herbs. Great resources! For seeds, Strictly Medicinal and Terroir Seeds are my go-to. Happy Herbing!

I highly recommend The School of Natural Healing. You learn a ton from their basic level course. They usually offer a discount on it around this time of year. https://www.schoolofnaturalhealing.com/

I just learned of him a few months ago. He truly is a wealth of info, and for those with no medical background, he can ease the apprehension that comes with self-care.

HELP! I have a Sister in Christ at hospital with Brown Recluse bite near Tampa Florida. The Homegrown Herbalist Patrick Jones has a anti venom tincture. It uses Holly Hock or Marshmellow roots with Echinacea and Plantain (Don’t know if it is the fruit, leaves, or root) and dandelion root. His website does not have a next day delivery. Does anyone have these roots? They can also be made into a police. TO neutralize the venom and promote healing and reverse the venom’s effects. I want to get this to her right away.

      My contact email [email protected]

      THANK YOU!!

I live in PA and this summer I plan on going to a class on herbal medicine. It’s taught at a local herb farm. You should look in your area and see if you have anything like that. Maybe call your better business bureau for suggestions or tourist information in your area.

Since she is in the hospital, it is highly unlikely that they will allow herbal treatment unless the MD knows you and believes in herbal medicine. Not sure of the situation.
Any toxin type infection either via inhalation, injection or a bite, I always use activated charcoal. I always use it when I have to have a MRI with or without contrast, as those can be quite dangerous. It helps quickly with toxins, yet I do not know enough about snake bites, as we don’t experience that often in NH.
I agree a poultice will help, but again, at the hospital, they will probably have things under control by the time a treatment arrives in the mail.

Right now, prayer is our strength. God knows her needs. Yet, as a proactive measure, for the future, consider gifting her a snake bite bag of herbal options to hopefully save her from having to run to the hospital. After reading your post, I will be looking at this, “just in case” we have the need.

    Blessings and prayers.

States usually have a patient’s bill of rights and because patients are technically “customers” they reserve the right to also take cures while in hospital that are homemade. They may be asked to sign a release from liability for any interactions with other treatments, and you don’t have to sign them, but generally it’s fine to do so. But an individual can do whatever they want in a hospital. They are not prisoners.

I just ran across this guy, if you are just getting started using medicinal herbs. Check this guy out for the methods are for making teas, tincture, and selves.

I would also like to take an in-person class with field experience. I checked with the University of Tennessee Agriculture courses without success.

Consider Doc Jones’ School of Botanical Medicine. I believe you can take the course online. Really sharp guy! https://homegrownherbalist.net/

He also has some great YouTube videos on medicinal herbs and how to use them.

I’ve signed up but have not finished the online course from Rosemary Gladstar. I really like her approach and have benefited personally from some herbs.

You could check out The Honeystead on Youtube. I am pretty sure they offer classes. I can’t afford stuff like that so I have to learn on my own. Good luck with your herbal journey. I watch them a lot. It is a lady and her mom mostly and they raise medicinal herbs, make tinctures and tea blends and things like that and they raise bees for the medicinal qualities of the honey. You might like them. Again, good luck. Kee in touch.
