Found you from watching Deep South Texas YouTube. I like the honest, no nonsense and down-to earth approach you both take. I like how you will show your audience the failures that happen.

I have been thinking about the Canadian Bresse but the eggs are quite pricey. Now, you have me rethinking

That’s a great idea with the lint. I think I’ll do that since we deal with wind here most of the time too.

Unfortunately, no. We got most of our firewood done, the gardens are becoming bare from harvesting and I hate it! I wish it was spring again. Not looking forward to winter at all this year. It’s going to be a rough ride here in Canada…

What kind of strawberries? We have everbearing in the garden and also in pots, feed bags, pallets…you name it strawberry plants are in it. When we planted the slips in the potters in June, they died back but we kept the soil moist and they came back strong and healthy and have been producing some really good berries the last few weeks and still flowering quite well. They don’t do as good as in the garden (we get two good picks per season and they produced strawberries up until November last year) but at least we get one good pick out of the potted ones.. We have lots of grubs and slugs and, although an annoyance, they don’t seem to hurt the root of the plants. Nematodes are suppose to work on grubs too, but we haven’t tried it yet.

I’m canning tomatoes too. My plants are loaded with tomatoes so it’s going to be a long process. I canned spaghetti sauce, tomato soup and ketchup so far.

I get lobster bait in the spring and bury them in the soil before planting tomatoes, peppers, zuchinni etc. I cover the bait with lime so raccoons or whatever won’t dig it up. It seems to do the job the whole season

I heard a saying somewhere (I can’t remember where), “You can’t fight the devil if you don’t believe he exists”. There are a lot of people that don’t believe in the Devil, so therefore they probably don’t believe in God either. That’s how the devil can flourish and is. So, I think, we will get hit with anything and everything….prepare for the worst and pray for the best. Good talk, Danny.

Look North to Canada and you may get a glimpse of what is coming, sadly. The US has more hope of resistance…we are too socialized and have too much faith in the governmental system. It was designed that way. The power is not in the hands of the people and hasn’t been for quite a long time-probably since the WW2. For instance, the federal government is the biggest employer in Canada…people are not going to bite the hand that feeds them.
