Also, if you are looking for a grain mill, maybe you’re also looking for a reliable source of grain supplier.

I have a Wonder-Mill junior deluxe and love it. It comes with two sets of stones and grinds pretty much everything from coffee to peanuts. Yes, you can make butters with it, though I have not done it yet. There are several different attachment for power units available even a drill bit attachment. Not sure where it’s made. 🤔

Wow, never heard of the term either, but I think that prepping as we do it right now is more planing ahead in anticipation whereas what he explained sounded more like the actual act/time all this planning, in terms of seizing the opportunity that’s at hand while in sort of a free fall state.
For me, besides the regular prep for the homestead, I try to prep in anticipation for those said opportunities to come. Like a threaddle sowing machine which operates without power so that I can sew clothing, etc. for others. Get more books with all sort of skills (like upholstery) to learn and offer those services. Everything that can be used for some sort of trade. The more skills we have the more flexible to realize opportunities when they present themselves.
Darn, I already thought it would be more than a 10-year span to get through this, but 40?! 😳 I gotta live to 100 to tell about it. 😳 😆

MemberNovember 5, 2022 at 2:13 am in reply to: This is How the World Ends, This is How the World Ends….Decades back, I bought a book about the predictions of Nostradamus and he did predict the times we’re in now. He saw a third WW with bright flash explosions (whether they were the cyber-attacks or nukes was not apparent) and the fall of civilization. Now, how much any of that overlaps with the Bible/Revelation I’m not sure, (I’m not as well versed in the Bible as you all are) but, back then, we kind of jokingly said that WW3 would send us back into the stone age (if we were ever there). Lately, I find myself looking at videos about the Great Depression and the resilience of the people, helping each other and pulling together, something these days few possess and I see this as one of the major downfalls for this/any society besides the damage done by the government. There’s way too much head-in-the-sand and wanting the easy life mentality going around, people will be so lost. It took 10years and a war for this country to come back, but I don’t see it this time. This time there will have to be a major shift within the people themselves, if they want to ever make it, it will literally take a new generation starting from scratch to rebuild. I don’t know, maybe it sounds a little too much doom and gloom, but I also see a better world ahead of us, a world where we tell the government to shut their pie-hole because we’re not taking it anymore. I see us taking advantage of a blank slate. I don’t know If I’m going to make it, but I’ll sure damn try because I sure would like to be part of this new World.

MemberNovember 11, 2022 at 7:19 pm in reply to: Worst Preparedness Advice EVER!!!!I agree with you on many levels, especially the freeze-dryer issue. It seems like many sort of jump on the band wagon with that and suddenly freeze dry their complete pantry. Yes, a great long term storage option, but what if there’s no electricity?! You spend all that money on something that now becomes a storage cabinet unless you add that to your solar system. When the lights go out, I’m prepared to go full Amish, everything manual and fire. Like you said, prep like it’s 200 years ago.
Also, yes, the precious metals are mainly for your wealth to carry over when things recover, but also, for me it was important to have gold and silver for anything related with the bank and the house. I believe/hope that I can make payments in metals to hold the house in case other income sources dry up.
But, heck, there’s some good advice out there. 👍👍👍

We could even have a couple of lightning strikes (only coincidental of course) via DEW . Nobody’s fault but the bad weather.

Yes, they absolutely did and you can never have enough potatoes.

Just a tip, whatever pressure canner you get, make sure you order an extra seal and pressure gage, you never know and with the supply chain braking down, it may save you some trouble later.
-
Yes, I saw the video, where she interviewed Susi (the Amish lady). I’m going to try canning her way for the potatoes.
For the longest time I only had a water bath canner and only recently got myself a pressure canner and honestly, I don’t think I’m ever going back. It is so much quicker. 👍

MemberNovember 5, 2022 at 2:31 am in reply to: This is How the World Ends, This is How the World Ends….You know, I don’t see this whole international trade issue as being ‘dependent’, but rather as a mandate.
Farmers are being forced to sell their products for cheap overseas or they don’t get subsidies. I watched reports on how Africa was turned from a thriving agriculture to a “dependent” survivalist country. And this whole international trade mandate made an office and production building out of Germany that has become a top-ranking economy in exports for the price of agriculture. I guess, what I’m trying to say is that all those governmental regulations and laws for the industry were a deliberate act, that this is all part of the New One World Order where no one country is allowed to be independent. All this has to come down and be rebuild from the ground up and now, this economic collapse, as tough as it may sound, is our chance.

But, why . . . Q does exist !

The “running out of oil” is another trick to get our panties in a wad. All they have to do is reopen drilling and we’re good, but they don’t want good. Goshen Prepper explained this in his last video perfectly. They sell the oil to the highest bidder and just raise the $$$ for us to give some felt reality to this twisted story. Yes, the oil reserves are low, but unless there is nothing new added, it will not run out that quickly.
