Tonight 1/6 while on TangnBee’s Livestream, my friend sent me a photo. New life is so precious, so I filled hot water in a bucket and added molasses, and brought an apple. Happy mama and healthy baby girl! ❤️

These books have been claimed. Thanks to Wanda from Deep South and Crazy Dazes for the idea of rehoming books here.

I have found some used copies more inexpensive than the whole set, so I am ordering them piecemeal. We were reading the Bible and a foxfire books for Christmas Eve in front of the fireplace, because sometimes the simple life is worth more than gold, diamonds, or fame. I found a section on pranks. So funny! I was reading about wooden locks and shoe making today. We take so many things for granted that used to take such a long time (a year just to tan the hides for the shoes!) Thanks for being part of Freesteading Wanda. Y’all are priceless too!

I am a Cath lab nurse, but have worked procedural and specialty/critical care for 30+ years. Praying for you to find the answers that you need to keep going. I have 28 one week old quail in the kitchen and 4 adults in the garage. Everyone is growing/thriving.

Danny, you were so so right. If you will get wind, you will get a LOT of wind, if you will get cold, you will get a LOT of cold, if you will get snow, you will get a LOT of snow. Oh my word, this is like a rough February in Ohio. We sometimes have a white Christmas, but the ZT is in the neighbor’s garage, and the chickshaw is shoehorned into the shed. The chickens are protesting, but what can you do? -24 wind chill is no place for a 5# bird. They’d be a frozen doorstop in no time flat. 15K ppl in the Central Ohio area without power. God has spared us, and the woodburner insert is going great guns. 28 one week old quail are in a tote in the kitchen humming along in greased grooves. I cooked my own cushaw squash, gold beets, carrots, along with store bought spices quinoa and kale. Savory and delicious and warmed my body and spirit. So happy you and Wanda are out of the thick of it. I can’t even imagine Montana or Minnesota, never mind the Dakotas. Those folks are made of sterner stuff.

This is the time of year to read Luke chapter 2, and know the true meaning of Christmas. “In the countryside, there were shepherds, abiding in the fields, and keeping watch over their flocks by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared before them, and the glory of the Lord shone all around them, and they were sore afraid. The angel said, fear not, for I bring you good tidings of great joy that shall be to all people. For unto us is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, ’tis Christ the Lord.” Probably my favorite promise in the whole Bible. Be well, do good work, and keep in touch.

Justin Rhodes (YouTube and abundance plus) lives in Fletcher and does regenerative grazing with cattle sheep and chickens. Jason Contreras (Sow the Land) also lives in that area, and had a newer (to him) property that he is rotational grazing cattle on.

Hello, I read your plight with the 89 year old family member. I have been a nurse for a long time, and I wish to assuage your guilt with a study. The study involved elderly who had broken a hip (very similar to your story). If a person over the age of 85 has a hip fracture, the mortality rate for 50% of that population is within 6 months. I believe such an elderly system can not absorb such grievous injury and successfully rebound. It’s a lot for anyone, but even more so for them. This may be a cold comfort, and I am sorry for her decline, but this could put a why behind the happenings. I hope she has peace being with your family.

I will place a connection request and we can exchange addresses. I am on Ohio, so they may arrive with frost on the edges. If you just cover shipping, that’s fine with me. I can let you know how much. I would ship parcel post, or the least expensive route.

I am interested in solar hot water. I would be interested in hearing about your system in the “utilities” forum.

I have really enjoyed reading these. Perfect for the minus degree weather we have had. We get so used to super fast information, that slowing down to actually READ a section takes concentration and thought. I read about wooden locks and shoe making last night. Now all I want is a smokehouse to lock up😁, but I think a root cellar should come first.
