You made mention finding solutions. Passively heating a greenhouse or hightunnel. You can put a working compost pile inside each end to creat heat. Put a few plastic barrels ( black would be best)filled with water throughout the insde they will heat up in the daytime and radiate at night. You can also put concrete cap blocks on the floor that will work the same as the barrels. With plants a few degrees makes all the difference

The origin of the scarecrow. When farmers had a crow problem. They would shoot one and hang it on a stick in the field to keep the otherones away. It worked rather well. This bird was called the scarecrow.

Consider growing vertically. You can plant low crops in among your tomatoes. Squash can be grown vertically as well. I purchased 3 stair stringers from hardware store and inverted them with shelves to make a tiered system with containers to utilize more space with small ground area

I’ve always been one to work with nature rather than against it. To keep animals out of my garden. I feed the squirrels dried corn and raw peanuts. They look forward to seeing me bring it out. For rabbits and deer I planted clover away from my garden area. They like that better. Birds tend to eat the fruits and veggies for the moisture in them. So I have several birdbaths on my property as well as feeders.. work with nature you’ll have a more harmonious outcome.
