Today I decided to try using my solar sand battery to dry out stock I have for my kelly kettle. I put the semi moist wood in, and at end of the day I pulled out crispy dry kindling.

With my tricks I have learned I was able to boil 6 cups of water in 5 and 1/2 minutes with the dry wood.

I was wrong about how many solar panels I am using I have 3 240 watt panels hooked up to the single burner…. So at max 720 watts of power….

So… At last my toy moves to being a dehydrator. I was using 5 panels before… I think because I had the nicrome wire part of the burner too insulated with sand that, and spilling sand on the burner is what killed it.

Now I can dehydrate more things…

I am getting like 6 hours of time at temps from 200 – 340 degrees F. Using 3 solar panels and 5 gallons of dry sand. Now, I believe I just need to improve insulation… I am thinking layers of cardboard around the outside should do the trick as I have an airgap between the trash can and the 55 gal barrel which is holding up well…

I went off the power grid about 2 years ago….

I also love my hot showers. The first thing I did was goto a propane shower device, this helped greatly.

The second thing I did was I Boiled about 2 1/2 gal of water with my rocket stove, then I poured this into a 5 gal bucket mixing in cold water for a good shower, then I used this device ->

Mine looks a bit different than this, but it does the job and works great for me. I like to have backup means to primary.

Past this I installed a direct line from my solar panels to my hot water heater, when my battery is full charging, the remaining power goes to the hot water heater…

And yes it is worth it. We just have to find ways around the crooks in DC.

I know them better than that, they don’t ask, they tell.

This is why so many chickens are being culled now.

The instant pot is my friend 🙂 I like to cook up a large mess of beans, rice, oatmeal and then use with different seasonings for different meals,

Being able to set the instant pot up in the morning go out and work hard then come back to a warm hot meal is awesome.

You have to verify that they are not giving the beef shots. They do not require labeling yet for this so finding out is such a pain !!!!

Yes, I have seen the John Wick movies, I have also been watching silver being used in Venezuela.

I have been switching my resources from paper, and electronic ( in the bank ) to physical like food, food on the shelf, food growing, power ( solar panels ), propane in tanks and some gasoline for backup, and yes some silver.

I plan for an economic crash, thus I am working with those around me that are already growing food.

As the system is broken, I do believe we will need to create our own systems, like you I am forming local tribes of people that share the value of working / trading for resources.

One of our local churches bought 30 acres of land, 15 they put into gardening, 15 they are putting into animals. I meet with some of them that came to garden, for some it was their first time putting a seed in the ground. That was a real wakeup call for me to know this is probably 80% of the people around me that they do not have a connection of where their food comes from, and when the grocery store is gone they will panic.

The “cost more”… argument is about to go away. Inflation will make it more reasonable to grow your own the way I am looking at the world now….. I agree with you solution, will the gov let us do it? As of now the gov runs out lives.

She might be a good resource for you for prepping as she has also been prepping for many years.

Well said Monkey, I have been revising my preparations to find the things that take low input for me to grow or skills I already have, and build a local tribe of people who share my values, or at least we can swap skills or items.

The problem I see is the meat we have in the store is not labeled if it has the mRNA vaccine applied to it. Indeed we have to grow our own, or find someone we can trust to grow our food for payment / barter.

I like to swap plants with people locally, I grow lots of extra plants just to bring with me when I visit with the local tribe. We sure need one another as we can’t do it all…

Excellent plan, I have old Braggs on the shelf before gates took it over, will use that up first. But making your own is even better.
