Hey there, I’m also looking to move to get more land. I’m currently in an urban setting (asheville, NC)

Billy from Perma Pastures Farm also lives in Western NC. I don’t know if you watch their channels but Justin Rhodes and Jason from Sow The Land live here too. It is really beautiful here so I would love to stay in the general area. I am unsure if we have more growing days than you in Ohio. I use to live in Nashville, TN for 20 or so years and I like western NC better. It gets SO hot in Nashville and is usually 10 degrees cooler here in WNC the summer. Right now i am looking in the Marshall, Mars Hill and Burnsville area but i feel time is of the essence and need to do it asap before things get to where it wont be possible. It would be great to live around like minded people.

so far heirloom tomatoes like Pink Brandywine Cherokee Purple, Dr Wyche’s, Mortgage lifter, San Marzanno, Amish Paste . Lots of different peppers like Purple Beauty (gorgeous purple sweet pepper)

and one different item I had a hard time sourcing is a bean i think called Greek Gigantes Elephantes. I heard about it originally from Liz Zorab’s YT channel. she’s in the UK and boasted about this bean. Its a huge white bean that keeps its “meatiness” when cooked it wont get mushy. You cant find the seeds!

someone commenting on her vid found some on Amazon meant for cooking, they planted them and they grew so thats what i did, they were abundant and are just now starting to dry on my cattle panel trellis. I also noticed that a store called Trader Joes sells them in a can with tomato sauce which is how they are commonly eaten in Greece and they really are yummy!

    Provider green beans

    More to come soon

Hi, I watch a lot of youtube gardening/homesteading channels and i think i recall someone using milk to spray on leaves. I don’t remember if it was raw milk or what but maybe worth checking out?

yesterday i dug 1 plant to see how big they were getting. I originally planted about 50 slips on Memorial day weekend and was/am worried about vole damage due to the fact that voles ate 40% of my regular potato harvest a few months ago. i think i will wait to dig the rest up for a week or two. Any curing advice? We have a bit of a cool front this week and i’ve read to cure they need to be warm and humid for 7 to 10 days

that is a great idea!!! I need good quality tools 🙂

David The Good featured The meadow Creature Broadfork recently and i was like wow! I need that!!!

A Harvest Right freeze drier would be amazing too but maybe too pricey

I’ve got 12 chickens and lots of voles. I think the voles are too fast for the chickens to catch

Next year I will try Jadam! I bought the book months ago and got too busy to put it into practice. I ended up with zero butternut squash harvest this year (luckily lots of tomatoes and other things) but had major squash/cucumber issues.
