Now that the drought is over I feel more comfortable breaking out my son oven. I was really worried about starting a fire with it this summer.

  • Check out Mark at Antioch Urban Growers, also in Kansas City- he is a great one too. He is at I35 and Antioch on the north side. Someone who is living it out not just doing stuff because its trendy like some of the other nursery owners in the metro area. He feeds the homeless, has aquaponics in his set up, built a rocket mass heater for his greenhouse. Hes the real deal too. When you shop at his nursery you are supporting the community not just a business.

Learning to grow microgreens and other things that you can grow indoors in the winter. I brought in the greenstalk last night and am hoping that the cold weather didnt already destroy the Egyptian spinach and Okinawan Spinach. Gowing to try growing Kale in there with it over the winter and starting some sweet potato slips for the greens too. I think lettuce grown inside is bitter, hoping I find the right greens to grow.

  • I went through 7 years of pictures and 4 years of video trying to get a good picture of me in the garden. This is a problem because #1 I hate taking pictures of myself and #2 this year I observed the Sabbatical and didn’t grow plus last night we had a killing frost. So I dont really want to run outside to take a picture of me standing by a bunch of frozen dead weeds. Here is what I came up with: My garden last year, without me in the picture. Me in a video harvesting sweet potato but the phone buffered when I screenshotted it. Me trying to hurry and cover stuff before a frost- it cut my head off. And me behind my garden showing how tall the walking onions were last year but you can’t see the whole garden. To see the greenstalk in the living room go to my post in the main feed.

    5 reasons why I need a greenhouse:

    1. So I dont have to spend hours covering and uncovering plants with totes

    2. To help me meet my goal of zero spend this year and pay off my house so I can retire and spend more time gardening!

    3. The original keyhole part of the garden is 12’ x 12’ and this is where I want a green house. The one you are giving away is the perfect size.

    4. So I dont have to drag the greenstalk and fruit trees in and out of the living room from the deck.

    5. It is my undying fantasy to live in a greenhouse.

I used them too- the ones for humans. Unfortunately I ended up with long- cv but hey, I didn’t die! I have friends who didn’t make it. They went to the hospital and Im convinced that is why they didn’t make it.

That was my concern. I would be fine with meds from India or Israel but not China. Does it say the country of origin?

Great question. I would also like to know. Has/have the manufacturer(s) been verified?

Thats so tragic. Those things could have fed people in need.

I did that a few years ago. It was self inflicted deprivation that enabled me to spend my grocery budget on building my garden. It worked, I learned a lot and learned to appreciate the things that I hadnt liked before, like oats. I now know that if SHTF I will be ok. Its pretty amazing what you can talk yourself into. I learned a long time ago that mindset is the most important aspect of being able to endure.

Love those last few days of hurryband harvest all the things! Sounds like your weather is a few days behind. It caught me off guard, for when I saw the high for today it seemed chilly but normal, what I didnt realize is that high was for this morning and it would be dropping all day. Supposed to be 22 tonight. It is too early for this!

It’s amazing how warm 50 degrees feels when you are outside working! But I still work full time for “the man” and he laid off 10% of the workers last week so today is not the day to run outside and pretend Im already free! One of these days 🙏
