I would like to learn more about this too. I’m no expert, but I have found a mixture of aromatic plants such as marigolds, herbs, onions, etc.planted among the vegetable plants help to confuse the pests. I spread out the vegetables too, so they are not all in one area. So if one area is infested, it doesn’t necessarily spread to the other area because it is separated by other aromatic plants. I’m still experimenting though.

I also find this to be true! We have always planted basil and marigolds around the edge of our garden in a few plants here and there throughout. We have deer, a lot of deer, and it really helps keep them out of the garden. We don’t have slugs or anything like that here, but we do have potato bugs and diatomaceous earth works on them, but if the infestation was bad you still have to pick them off by hand.

I haven’t really experimented with companion planting yet I plan to this season. However does anyone else use dawn and water, or any spices (pepper, garlic, cinnamon, ect)to keep bugs off of vegetables?
