Permaculture seed planting question

It is inevitable when I am starting seeds I find random seeds scattered on the table when I’m done. I have been collecting these seeds in a small canning jar which I labeled MYSTERY SEEDS. Could I just scatter them along the perimeters of my property. I love the idea of not toiling with a bunch of rows! I just finished watching Billy’s most recent upload highlighting a location where they just scattered seeds….. Should I wait until the spring?

Standard permaculture response “it depends…”. What zone are you in? First expected frost date? I think scattering misc. seeds is a great idea, just thinking that if you are in a early frost zone you may not get the full benefit from them. That being said, life’s one big experiment and my first thought is go for it!

I agree. More so if you know you have plenty of growing time left.

The other day I looked it up and I believe it said my first frost date would be October 15th. I am in Northeast North Carolina I believe that’s growing zone 6A? Now I’m doubting myself! LOL

we plant things on the edge of the forest all the time. I now have wild turnups, grapes, raspberries etc.. I love this idea. I say go for it.

Okay! I wasn’t even thinking about the tree line. I snapped a quick picture of a small portion of a side of yard. I guess the only thing I’d be worried about would be the wildlife eating it up before I got to! I am like on day one of figuring out what permaculture is! I really do appreciate the assistance!

I think of permaculture as man’s way of replicating nature.

I love it! I will still have my traditional garden rows and raised beds but, this is taking it to a whole other level I’m going to start this week with the permaculture. I need to get myself some comfrey now!

You’ll love it! I too have multiple processes going on, raised beds, green stalk towers, a tradition garden plot and a cottage flower garden. I want to experiment with hydro and aquaponics and ponds (all in good time). Installing the next phase of my food forest in Oct. Let me know if I can help with recommendations. 😉

You could make seed bombs and toss around your property. Another fun option is to become a guerilla gardener and toss those seed bombs around town. Go for it. Why not? Or even in a bed set aside for surprises!

I do the same exact thing with random random seeds. It’s sometimes shocking the unexpected things that pop up in places that I didn’t intentionally plant them.
