Good Morning, I’m Cathleen from SE Louisiana. 17 yr public school teacher, BS Elementary Ed, Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, specifically focused in Special Education, Science, Social Studies, History for grades EC-9

My desire is to collaborate with others to develop homeschool curriculum that targets our homesteading life style.

I truly believe that Scripture (not doctrine) can play a major role in this endeavor.

Please connect with me if you would be willing to be apart of this collaboration effort.

I think there are many on freesteading who are homeschooling (and many more coming) that could truly benefit from your knowledge and years of experience.

I am so excited to to have you here and to watch this community grow ☺️

Good Morning Cathleen! My name is Jessica, I live in Arizona and am currently a public school teacher. I currently teach music and computer coding. I also have a special education and a culinary degree. My hope is to bring real skills to the student. We need to bring back home economics and “trades”. I am in agreement with your post and love the idea of Scripture being at the forefront of the curriculum. I am so thankful that you are here and we have found one another! In the times we are living in, I am looking forward to being a part of something so revolutionary. This will change the trajectory of a generation. I am so excited!!

Hi Everyone… I am in Plant City, FL. I have been homeschooling my daughter when her 1st grade teacher woke me up to Common Core which was changed to Florida Standard but still Common Core per her teacher. I took the whole year and read Samuel Blumenfeld’s book “HOMESCHOOLING”. WOW… what and eye opener, who knew? I have loved homeschooling my daughter because I get to learn NEW stuff. I got to meet (on the phone) Charlotte Iserbyt, John Taylor Gatto and Samuel Blumenfeld. They were all three my mentors and homeschooling death by fire. I never learned so much in a short time span. My daughter is now in the 9th grade and any teaching ideas on subjects (ANYTHING) will be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU !!!

Im a homesteading, homeschooling mama of 3 and we’ve always incorporated our homesteading lifestyle into our school – from building a home to canning and hunting. I’d love to help collaborate and create a curriculum!

Hey! My name is Andrea, Andi by those who know me. We are a homeschooling family of 4 youngins in manatee county Florida….well, 3 and a toddler, he’ll be there one day. As soon as he learns to stop sitting on everyone’s papers like he’s a cat. I suppose some seasons could be called “un” schooling really. It all depends on how much we’ve got going on, and what the priorities are. “Math work or learning to treat chicken ailments today? Or possible sowing some seeds? Catching and cleaning a fish?” It’s all school, and that’s why I love it.

I think a curriculum with that in mind would be amazing! We might actually be able to follow something like that, instead of the on again off again we get when things get busy.

I very much agree with incorporating scripture. I’ve always loved the idea of putting together our own curriculum, but it seemed overwhelming. So we just end up blending a bunch of different things together.

    Howdy from Central Texas!

I don’t have any school-age kids myself, but I’ve left teaching Spanish in the public-school setting and hoping to connect with the homeschool community. I have a detailed profile, but I think the bio is private, and trying to figure that out. I’d be much obliged if someone could let me know if it is visible to them or hidden.

I have been following many of the popular homesteading channels on YouTube for several years, and went all-in to gardening in March of 2020 (when ‘they’ pulled the trigger on their agenda), without ever having gardened before.

    Thanks!

Hello! 🙂 I am Ruth from TN. I am originally from MI. We moved to TN in January 2020. I have been homeschooling my son since 2010. I started homeschooling him after I found out he is severely dyslexic and has dysgraphia. Actually, all 3 of my children are dyslexic. Which lead me down the path of becoming a tutor at the Michigan Dyslexia Institute for 13 years. I started tutoring in January 2005 and retired in 2018. Anyhow, We use an online program called Time4Learning since he can not write. What programs do you all use?

Hello Ruth! All of my kids are dyslexic as well. Although it’s a lot I’m so thankful we get to homeschool and take some of the pressure from typical learning or government schools away from them. We use Gather Round and Campfire curriculum for history/social studies, All About Reading, Good and Beautiful for English and Math, Masterbooks for science and art. I use audiobooks a ton and I read to them a ton. We also do a lot of activities on our farm.

Good morning! I’m a home educating mama in North Carolina. We have three children (22, 16, and 16). We have been home educating since 2015 when we moved to NC from Ohio. Our children were in public school from K-9 for our oldest and K-3 for our youngest two. We tend to follow a more Charlotte Mason style of home education. I look forward to getting to know you all!

Hello! I’m Shea (pronounced “Shay” like Shea butter in lotion or Shea Stadium that used to be in NY). I took control of my child’s education when the second half of the school year was cancelled here in Mississippi in 2020. Looking back, it was the best decision I could have made.

I am a nurse and recently quit my job, because I was fed up with the crappy healthcare and total lack of regard I witnessed on a daily basis. I am now at home, going back to college for a higher degree after 15 years of practice, and homeschooling my teen with a toddler underfoot. While my teen and I both have ADHD diagnoses, we are still making it and happier than we’ve ever been. However, because of my ADHD, I have not taken “full” control of my son’s education and rely heavily on a Christian homeschool curriculum. Though this curriculum is a good one, I think I can do better. I am very interested in and appreciative of any suggestions, curriculum, information, etc. that may come from a collaboration of like-minded individuals.

Hi! I’m Rachel. We’ve been homeschooling since 2008. Our oldest just graduated, is almost done with his Associates in Computer Science and is getting married, next month. My oldest girl is a junior and my youngest daughter is in 4th grade. We’ve used multiple curriculums, including putting my own together. I’m very happy to meet you all😊

Hey y’all, I’m Nana. I am here to learn. Waiting on my daughter to get fed up with the public school system and pull her child out so I can unschool him full time and not just weekends and summers. My background is in Early Education.
