About You

About You

Howdy from Central Texas! I am an avid gardener and mid-level prepper, but have spent my career teaching and tutoring Spanish for over 25 years from junior high through adult. I taught high-school for 6 years and at the university level for 3. Now I exclusively teach and tutor privately.

I have a Master’s in Spanish Applied Linguistics, with a focus on second-language acquisition and curriculum development.

I look at Spanish through a unique lens: grammar consists of meaningful patterns, and I help English-speakers see those patterns using shapes and colors.

I have authored many materials (printed, multi-media, video), including The Smart Book of Spanish Verbs. It has never taken off among traditional Spanish teachers, but it is an essential tool for my students.

You can learn a little bit about The Smart Book of Spanish Verbs  here on YouTube .

I have a few more playlists on YouTube, including a 4-video series on nouns and adjectives, which is good for English Language Arts.

Many of my videos have been criticized by my colleagues for being too long and too boring. My goal is not to entertain, but to engage and educate. Follow the links above and see for yourself.

I also started a non-profit, The Lone Star Spanish Project, which was sidelined by the ‘pandemic’ in March of 2020. With a new and significantly different world view, my hope is to re-direct the project into a live homeschool Spanish program.

Please reach out if you have any questions. I would be happy to meet you live on zoom, hear about your needs and goals, and tell you more about my unique methods.

¡Gracias!
