Let’s share what types are and are not holding up to the wilt (straddling Zone 5B/6A):

German Pink – these are holding up so far – of all the tomatoes I’ve tried the past few years, these are the strongest plants, and a good producer.

Cherokee Purple – these are holding up so far, just a few wilted spots

Cherokee Chocolate – First time tried this year, they are holding up better than the C. Purple. Turns out this is a “bushier” tomato, i.e., had some difficulty getting it up on the cattle panel. It pretty much took over the whole 6×4 box. Planning to plant them farther apart because they seem to need more room. But so far proving itself as a good strong plant like the German Pink.

Black Krim – These are starting to suffer the wilt, hoping they will pull through

Rapunzel (hybrid) – Having a hard time, these did great last year

Pink Brandywine – First and last year I will ever grow these, what a mess.

Oxheart(?) – Put these plants from relative in smaller raised bed, supposed to have come from Russia. They are holding up so far but they have been a hassle from the get-go. Seem to need a lot more water, they have been finicky, waiting to see if they pull through.

I also have a dwarf experiment and most of these are doing ok. Growing 4 types of indeterminate dwarfs to see if they grow outside in customized nested buckets. If they do, intending to bring some inside to see if they will grow through the winter.

I did not plant tomatoes this year, but what looks like Everglades cherry tomatoes volunteered. I have to keep pruning off diseased leaves, but they are still going strong!

Daddy swore by the Rutgers variety. I had good luck with two Early Girl last fall, but the six in my garden now are struggling. My two Creoles are doing better in the garden. I haven’t put out three new plants. Got them for their disease resistance and refuse to put them anywhere near my garden where the diseased ones are.

I’ll take any advice on fighting the deadly black spot on the leaves.
