Sure. What do you want to discuss? Anything in particular?

If you have a cow or know someone who does, chickens thrive on clabber as a mainstay if they can also free range. We also have a meal worm farm, grow extra winter squash, pumpkins, okra, amaranth, etc. Bone broth, if you have a source and supply on bones is great for minerals for them too. Putting a chicken leg or other meat in a five gallon bucket with holes drilled in the bottom of the sides can supply a large amount of nutrition also as the flies get in and lay eggs in the meat that turn into maggots that then crawl out and drop, making it available to the birds as supplementary protein. Just hang the bucket above nose level to avoid the unwelcome smells, lol. But it only works in warm weather. Lots of things that can be done. They also love chickweed which grows well even in very cold temps.

Looking forward to all your ideas to add to our chicken pantry ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, another way to stretch whatever you do have is to grow fodder for them indoors. Wheat and barley grow very quickly and chickens make them disappear very quickly during winter here.

Score! Stopped by the grocery store on our way home from town today and saw some pineapples sitting there. Looked through them and sure enough, each one had been carefully pinched at the top to make sure customers were only buying one pineapple to eat, not to grow. Ha! Whoever did it missed one ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes. I BOUGHT IT! I sure did ๐Ÿ˜€

I had asthma years ago and several of our kids did too. Tip from our chiropractor that stops acute attacks in seconds – find the midpoint on your chest between clavicles and nipples and massage gently. Should release spasms almost instantly. I went from using three different meds to zero in a few weeks and have never used them since. Probably 15 or 20 years now. Hope that helps…

Have you looked at Hamby’s Dairy Supplies? I would never personally use a milker without a pulsator because of the damage it can do to the udder. I like the old Surge bucket milkers, but there are several good brands out there. Have you checked out the Keeping a Family Cow forum on proboards yet? They have several good threads on the pros and cons of the different milkers and many people who can answer in real time about their experiences with each of them.

Hmmm, yeah, they definitely both could use some good groceries. What are you feeding them now? And how much and how often? And how long have you had them? Do they have other grass available than what is in this pic? Are you providing hay 24/7 also? If so, a pic of your hay would help…

Is this your first time raising dairy animals?

Oh no, not painful at all. It’s just three or four inches below your collar bone and GENTLY massage till the spasm stops. Easy peasy, promise.. My daughter just did it for my two year old granddaughter who was having some problems and she went from struggling to breathe to singing me her abc song within one minute. Pretty simple. Hope it works for you too!!

Oh my, that would definitely make it hard. We are always here so hopefully it won’t be too bad! Not even looking forward to the rain though…

    Thanks!

If you have lamb’s ear this year, next year you will have mullein. It has a 2 year life cycle, year one – lamb’s ear, year two- mullein with the seed. Yay
