I love Clyde’s planner. I give them as gifts to friends and family that are new to gardening. This year I’m using a journal.

I’d love to hear what others are using this year to help track their garden progress.

I’ve had good experiences with hoss tools and true leaf market. Every year I get sucked in by seeds n such because they have low prices but the last few orders they have taken weeks before shipping out my seeds. This last order is a month old and still not shipped. Small seed suppliers get overwhelmed and can get pretty far behind. But hoss and true leaf have been reliably good customer service.

Wonder why the people doing this are not affected by supply chain shortages. 🤔

Absolutely they should help! I was laid off recently from my IT job and in the process of a new job search, I can tell you guys that AI technology, while it as existed for a while, is really ramping up and I believe will make many jobs obsolete even in the next 5 years. Did you know AI can write articles, make videos, narrate in the same conversational vernacular as a human? I see newspapers in the near future firing all their reporters and using AI to write all their stories. (Who’s to say they aren’t doing that now?)

It is going to be so important for children today to have practical hands on skills, most all of which they would learn working on a farm or ranch. And of course, all the skills they develop aside, such as problem-solving, etc. I truly believe they won’t have any other way to make a living and will be miles ahead of their peers when they grow up because of what they can learn from working on a farm and working with an older person.

It is so important right now for children of all ages to spend as much time possible with grandparents and older aunts and uncles. The older generations have knowledge, skills and wisdom they are going to need in the future and they will be richer in so many ways from the time spent together.

I was shocked to find 12-egg plastic egg containers at Dollar Tree. I got a couple because my niece shares eggs with me and the “free” cartons she was using deteriorate pretty quickly. :-). They are over a dollar but if you don’t need a lot it might be worth checking at your local store or their website.

My problem is I get started fine but as the season goes on in the middle of summer I get so busy with other stuff, I neglect to take the time to write my garden notes. I’m committed this year to do better on that. I thought a written journal might help. 🙂

Yeah the “show” TSC sponsored was in Waco but they are doing them all over in Texas. I won’t get on my soapbox but I think the country as a whole is stronger economically when we support small businesses. When I researched TSC ownership, I just decided this was one area I could change.

I’m looking for a co-op in the area and they are hard to find. Instead of opening my own store, I think I’m going to try to find a way to put together a small group co-op of sorts. Source the businesses in our local area that sell the bulk meat, feed and such and pull together the family and friends that want to be a part of that to share in the cost of obtaining those items together.

I’d be interested in any advice your or any others have on the way to do this.

I was off my high-horse by the time I got home. 🙂 So I won’t be opening a feed store, but I so agree with you about customer service!
