Sometimes, I wish nothing more than that even though it will be insanely tough and it will cost a lot of people a lot even the ultimate. But then again, we will never truly go back in time because of our knowledge we each have today verses back then. Yes, they knew everything they needed to know to survive, we, on the other hand, I think, know more/different things. In our time, everything has already been invented. We had the age of technology. I bet there are people out there that can pretty much revamp everything under the sun and can make it work for us. I think it would definitely be a faster ‘recovery’ time than it was back then just moving forward.

Nice, I have my own Ketchup and sweet relish, I think I’m going to try the 1000 Island today. 😋

We used Thyme Leaf Extract before on one of our chickens for a bacterial infection on her beak.

Also, look into Greek Oregano, I learned that this is the most potent of the oreganos.

I have a sauerkraut pot that’s constantly in use, but you can also pickle it like cucumbers or just use salt and preserve it that way. I also made regular salad with it, almost like cole slaw, but without the mayo or oil and put it in jars that way. You can also cut the cabbage in 1″ thick slices, rub them with garlic, salt, pepper and fry it a pan. I like to pour a beaten egg over it so it keeps together better.

Wow, I still haven’t used my mill, but once and haven’t noticed anything. I might just go ahead and grind the paint off when I finally set it up (still haven’t found a proper place in my tiny kitchen where it’s not in the way). I’m thinking of getting a bicycle sprocket for it . My husband can then attach the rest to make it into a treadle powered mill when power is out.

Sounds interesting for sure. Another good use for left over grease.

I got the Water Purifier Tablets “Micropur MP1” from LL Bean, the company is Katadyn.

Boiling would work imo, but you would have to boil it at high temps for hours, just as you would sterilize canning jars.

I have PorOne and as far as I remember they can do that. I like that the filters are ceramic and have silver in them. You can clean the filters and reuse them for up to a year. Most of the filter companies claim pretty much the same for their filters, so in the end it’s just personal preference. If the rain/pond water is too dirty, I would just strain it through a cloth or something to get the particles out.

As a backup, I have tablets that kill bacteria that I can add into the filter system.
