Does anyone else use aronia berries and wild lettuce? I don’t think I’ve heard those on here. I made a tincture of aronia berries 2 years ago and I’m finally using it this year. Not the best tasting.

I started on my own property. Found out what salsify is( I picked the flowers before they bloom and saute with butter and garlic). Also harvested clover flowers, dandelion, mint, wild or prickly lettuce and asparagus growing wild on my property when I moved here 4 years ago.

I like the way that Billy from permi pastures said it. The chickens get everything except for chicken and the pigs get everything except for pork

Working on a sheep shelter. Don’t think I’ll be able to finish it before winter

I would suggest raising a goose up with your chickens if you have aerial predators.

I would probably go with the Icelandic breed for cold tolerance.

I’ve had them for almost 2 years now and they are great chickens. I’ve cross bred them with the chickens I already had and love the variety of color that I got. I’m working on having chickens with small Combs because of the cold here and have quite a few with small Combs now

You’re welcome. My sister told me about these berries a few years back so I ordered some plants at the nursery.

I’ve only done wild lettuce in a tea, but you can boil it down to a black goo and it is really strong. Aronia berries are not very tasty and astringent but super nutritious and good for cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes and a list of other stuff

Yeah, I’m not brave enough for mushrooms. I did try milkweed pods this year though, and they were actually very tasty. you just have to boil all the toxins out a couple times. Was very nervous trying them for the first time though.
