That’s a tough one because roosters are going to crow. The only advice I can really give you is to try a different one. We had several, when our hens went broody and we let them hatch some eggs, probably half were roosters, so at one point I think there were 15 and there was one beautiful one, but he crowed All DAY LONG, non-stop. When we got rid of a bunch, he was top on the list and it got much quieter. Our chickens are free-range and you cannot catch them, they have an automatic door and go in at night and out in the morning on their own. The only way someone could get them would be to show up at night, which is a SHTF situation could be possible. It’s a risk you have to take though because if there is a total collapse, you are going to need roosters to have more chickens.
