Brent – husband and small business owner from Pa (MFG Parts & a Machine Shop). We started “homesteading” on our property 4 years ago, raising rabbits/quail etc. We are looking to purchase a property in WV or NH (leaning towards WV$$) to be our monthly escape and at some point our final growing space.
We have worked with Nicole’s companies and sponsored The Self Reliance Festival as we try to support these communities as much as possible.

PA here, quail in the garage (moved them to the house side of the garage and their water didnt freeze, howeve MomH has a good suggestion. Use a small aquarium heater in your bucket (make sure it stays covered and you will be fine). We keep our rabbits outside and have finally settled on these: “Heated Rabbit Water Bottle, 32 oz.” at Tractor Supply. They worked very well for two winters now.

Fat, fat, fat, fat, so store GHEE! I think its always overlooked and is so necessary for brain function. Ghee is shelf stable and very very easy to make. I think everyone should be storing at least a few jars of ghee in their pantry.

So glad its working out for you. Our new puppy has taken really well to eating raw and is now devouring whole quail like a lion.
Another treat we have found that they love are dehydrated or smoked Lungs (sheep/goat etc). The dogs love them and they should be readily available from whomever processes your animals.
