I received this email yesterday. My next order is next week so I paid early (yesterday) using the old payment method to buy myself some time to figure out what I’m going to do. I’m not happy about giving out my main checking account information, so I might open a new checking account just for these kinds of transactions. I can see more companies moving in this direction in the future.

I agree, an endless list! 2 items I think people forget about is pet/animal food/meds and informational books.
Plus you could have all the items available to you but if you don’t know what to do with them or how to use them what good are they. I think, we should be focusing on skills. We should all know how to use thread (by hand and machine), seeds, bullets, wood (heating and cooking), bandaids, herbs, preserving water, food and animals, cooking from scratch, maintain our vehicles… Or know someone in your community that could help you out with the skills you have not master yet.

I’m hanging in there! In March I start my seeds indoors.
Lol! Camping is not my thing but I do love hiking…in warm weather!

I would miss the 4 seasons but would love a longer growing season!

I’m 5b (IL almost WI). It’s still very cold here.

Welcome!
What growing zone are you in?

Thank you for this great info!

Great info here!
I will only add how important it is to get a breed that does well in your climate. Living in IL almost WI my chickens need to be able to handle the very cool winters. Something I wish I would of known before picking my 3 breeds.

I use Azure Standard to make my own chicken food.

Weasels could be a big problem in some areas too. Plus they kill for sport. I second the importance of 1/4″ hardware cloth, 2 feet out on the ground around the whole coop/run and 3 feet up.
