Both great articles… unbelievable that this chemical is still used knowing it can last many years in the soil. And it is causing major issues all over the world during a time when growing food is becoming more of a necessity.

I’ve saved a bunch of seeds this year to share. Would love an exchange.

So far I have saved tomatoes, sweet peppers, hot pepper, cucumber, cowpeas and dill. This weekend I am going to save eggplant and basil seed I was so excited the first time I saved seeds and then they worked the next year. This year I grew a many more herbs and hope to catch them going to seed soon.

From what I have found splitting in tomatoes is caused by uneven watering. A large dump of rain from a big storm after not much rain. Mostly happens in fruit that has already started turning red but it can happen with green ones (says the literature) but I have never seen that. You can help prevent that by making sure you water regularly during a lower rain period, making sure lots of organic matter is in your soil that helps to hold moisture for longer and cover with a mulch to keep the sun from baking the soil and drying it out.

I live on a 1/2 acre in a rural town. I’ve had 9-14 framed beds for ~20 years. 15+ blueberry plants, blackberries, new raspberries plants and a fig tree in my yard. No animals. This past year I started really adding to my herbs collection for medicinal purposes and learning native plants that you can eat. Recently married and my husband isn’t interested in any type of “farming” because he grew up on a working farm and had too many bad experiences. Because of nematode issues, I didn’t have a great garden this past year and concentrated on collecting seeds for next year. I can retire in a little over a year and we may be moving to be closer to family. Who knows what this next year will bring.. God will get us through it.

I do not remember this one at all. The School House Rock series are at the songs that I can’t get out of my head. Conjunction Junction and I’m just a Bill are two I must have seen hundreds of times. Also what ever that one was that said to “not drown your food”… and “hankering for a hunk of cheese”…haha Targeting Saturday morning cartoons for propaganda was the thing in the 70’s

Great Idea. I have a cheaper Hori Hori that has a plastic handle. I have used it for over 10 years and it is my go to hand tool.

I like a bathroom window for light and moisture regulation. But I’ve always lived in humid areas on the east coast. You can put a layer on the bottom pane with a covering that blurs the glass. I’ve seen some that look like stained glass and look very beautiful.

Many years ago I had a commercial herbicide license for work, I was amazed at all the formulas and boy do they love to come out with a newly named product each year… I had not heard of Corteva but when I searched the first name that came up was Matrix. Hard to ask someone if they are using a certain thing when they know it by another name. Shame what we are doing to our land.

Very true.. aminopyralid is the issue. For some reason Grazon seems to be the one mentioned in articles.

Thanks.. I should have added the video to the post. David the good’s video is why I am trying it. I read a bunch of articles about it 🙁. Glad I saw in the video that beans are more susceptible to Grazon. The horse compost has been in a trash can for a year because i didn’t want to add it without testing and wasn’t sure how to do it. I can get more from the horse stable this winter… I’ll keep it separate till the spring when I can test that batch.
