Quick Question For All You Modern Day Survivalist

There’s some truth in that but it still doesn’t answer the question of ‘what’ it is. 🙂

without google I have no ideal, so when is the answer being posted, or should I just google it?

Not all of us were trained by your “Mentors” or yogis or bush-jedi or whatever. If you think that you have something useful to share then why not just share it? The “I know something you don’t know” nonsense is irritating.
-
My apologies … not meant to irritate and has nothing to do with my Mentor’s or me. Was meant to merely prompt research to show how people referred to things several hundred years ago based on their understanding. By all means, feel free to have the thread deleted.
-
No worries. Nothing is learned when things are deleted, and there is way too much of that these days. I’m always up for learning somthing new, but I interpreted the specific stipulation of “without doing any reseach” to mean that you’d be providing the information. In the future, I’ll try to ask better questions and make fewer assumptions.
-
As to the ‘research’ portion … that was just my way of seeing if there just might hap;pen to be someone else here who also studies the past and how things were done.
I just saw where you provided a link above to some info.

I have to admit. I don’t know what a mountain goose is/was. But I am intrigued to find out. So, yes I am going to go research it.
Also, jmho Instead of getting irritated with someone for knowing something you don’t..why not look at it as an opportunity to learn. Just because you don’t have mentors or yogis, gurus, or whatever doesn’t make you incapable of learning the same thing as someone who does. In fact, it might give you an advantage. Every mentor knew something that someone didn’t know at one time or another. By researching for yourself you open yourself to a plethora of mentors worldwide. A stockpile of knowledge, both new and old. Being told, and learning are two different things entirely.
Forgive me for stepping up on my soapbox.. be blessed.

Never heard of a “Mountain Goose”. I’m guessing it’s just a subspecies of a normal goose? Probably spotted on lakes and ponds in mountainous regions? I’d guess that their feathers were used for quill pens, fletching and down like other geese. IDK, just a guess.

Well, that was an easy find, and pretty interesting lore.
Thank you for helping me learn something new today. 🥰
-
Will be interesting to see what you found. There’s a lot of wrong turns out there. 🙂

Hint For The Day ….
Some Native Americans called it Cho-kho-tung
-
Its something used in certain skills today. Or at least those who practice what’s now called bushcraft or primitive survival still use it
-
What was the name of the kids game where you guided someone to something by telling them if they were hot or cold while they moved around?
Granny …You’re so hot it’s uncomfortable. 🙂
-
If you want to save time …. Just read previous posts. Someone has already taken it upon themself to post a link to some information.
I’m off to read it now myself to see if it coincides with my research.
-
Just checked it out. I know exactly where that info came from. He just copied and pasted the information from elsewhere. 🙂
-
Art, we called the kids game, “Riddle, riddle Marie. I see something you don’t see.”
-
I am teaching my 10 year old some Bushcraft. I use it on the farm all the time. 🙂
-
Super …. 10 is a great age for learning.
Hopefully it will be something that really interests them.

Mountain Goose??? Hummmm… domestic geese, Canadian geese, and a snow goose ever once in a while…
No mountain geese that I know of here in south Mississippi!!! I’ve hunted and fished here for 60 years.
I’ve not researched the question and probably will not… ( Not being disrespectful)
