    Chicken Project

I got 5 whole chickens without hormones/antibiotics ($1.12/lb) and cut all the breast meat off (we’ll use these 10 breasts for recipes that call for raw chicken), then seasoned and roasted the rest of the chicken carcasses w/dark meat on them. I simmered the roasted pcs for almost 48 hours, after adding some apple cider vinegar.

Out of this project I got:

4 half gallon jars of Broth

    1 qt of Meat Pcs/Broth

2 qts of chicken scraps for the dogs

    3 pints of chicken pcs

We LOVE having these on our pantry shelves to help make quick meals/soups!! Have a BLESSED Day!!!

Looks great. I made what I call 3 in 1 chicken. You take any part of the chicken (raw pack) and place in Quart jars, with some water 1 inch from the top. What you get is great tasting chicken and broth and bones for you garden. You can add any spice to flavor the chicken to if you like.

I’ve done that in the past and my kids (even the grown ones) were not thrilled, to say the least, about how slimy the raw packed chicken was which is why I started roasting the chickens. Another reason for roasting the chickens is that I make bone broth which we really enjoy.
