Odd ball solar panels…

So….. I got 7 solar panels that have a HIGH voltage 220 V open circuit, and 185V closed…. Since my charge controllers only up to 155 V, I am testing a work around by runing a DC motor to turn a tread mill motor. My plan is to take the energy from the tread mill motor and feed it into my charge controller…. The right way of doing this is to buy a charge controller that can do high voltage, and buy a set of 48 V batteries… I don’t want to do that now, so I am going to test out this idea. I hope this works….

What is the brand and model of those panels? I’ve not seen any over maybe 60is volts. Need to broaden my information base!

    Let us know what happens!

Rereading. is each panel that high of voltage, or are they that high when connected series?

If the latter, why not just connect 1/2 series, 1/2 series, and those two in parallel, dropping the voltage within a safe range, and take that directly to the charge controller? Or maybe a 2nd, charge controller, one for each string, leaving everything else the same?

It is hard to fathom, but they are that voltage, not in series…..

The good news is industrial motors are in this voltage range, and I can run them without issue.. I have been researching daylight drive… from livingenergyfarms on youtube. They have been doing this for years.

When you get a 440 watt panel for $25.00 a panel you do not ask questions, you just find a way 😉

Wow.. I’d pay $25 all day for those. I’ve got at least 2-3 charge controllers that I could use them with, one starts working at 120v and goes up to I think 250v, and another one goes up to at least 300v.

Hmm 🤔 Where’d you get these panels?

I watch craigslist about every day… I scan thru looking for deals. Today I found an air compressor for $15.00 which I will go look at. But I scan pick out those deals which make the most sense and go for them. These solar panels are all cracked, and have problems, but yesterday I made tea, I cooked up spaghetti, and I made two large pots of hot water which I cleaned up the dirty dishes with ( amazing how boiling water makes dirty dishes easier to clean. But I got them locally. The best deals to be had are in cities. But if you are always looking you get better at spotting spammers, and the real deals.
