LMy nephew gets migraines often. Of course I want to help him. He takes a statin drug & Prilosec. I’ve read that statins can cause headaches (not migraines).

I believe lavender, peppermint, don quoa and feverfew would be of benefit without interacting with his meds. Do you have any other recommendations?

Statin drugs must be the most prescribed these days. I’m not sure everyone or anyone needs it. Thoughts?

I agree most problems can be fixed with a proper diet (eating habits). I know there is no one diet that works for everyone as one could have a deficiency and another an abundance. I’m just trying to help this young man.

Thanks for the lab link. Are they reasonably priced? Quick results?

Lifelong migraine sufferer here. Diagnosed with them when I was in second grade. Got severely worse in 2015 after I had to have a total hysterectomy. Had a 3wk long one that ended with a 3day hospital visit where I received a DNE treatment. Pumped full of steroids that kept me awake the whole time. Upon release, I was prescribed Topamax 300mg/day, Maxalt and Imitrex when needed. Topamax caused me severe cognitive decline. (which still affects me to this day) It also made my skin very sensitive to the point it hurt to be touched. I lost my job as office manager for ADS Security out of Nashville but was fortunately able to get on disability. After suffering through this daily for 3yrs, getting my ear pierced, trying Duttera, CBD oil, botox, etc., nothing was working. Then, in 2018, a fellow migraine sufferer suggested I try pure cannabis. At first, I was reluctant but was at the point I just wanted relief. I’ve now been off all meds for almost 4yrs. The only med I take now is Benadryl (when I feel one coming on) and one joint/day. And no side effects. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not advocating for you to introduce your nephew to cannabis! I’m only sharing my story with you to show how ineffective the treatments for migraines can be and the major side effects that come with the meds. Natural remedies have turned out to be the best for me. However, I am close to 60yo so I dont have the desire to overuse. I think age does make a difference in the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes. I pray your nephew finds relief soon! It’s so debilitating! It hurts to think. And tell me one person who can make themselves not think. No one can. Because you have to think about not thinking. I would rather anything hurt than my head!!! And when someone around me gets a headache, I empathize so much with them that sometimes it brings one onto me and I have to head for the Benadryl. 🤦‍♀️

I recommend cannibas for It’s many medicinal benefits. I’m thankful you found it beneficial with your needs.

Government needed another opportunity to make a profit and picked on this plant/herb.

Personally I have every kind and symptoms migraine even cluster headache, still I choose not to take anything because it will come with a price to pay. Reacting to everything, light, wetter, food, drink (drink no alcohol) and so on. Can loose my vision in just a couple of minutes, so if i notice I have to park as fast as possible and take a rest for half a hour to a hour. Driving home sick and go to bed in a dark room. No light, sound, smell etc, but that is not always possible than I have to finish sick.

It is for every person different, to make the choices. Depends on what you can take and can function, we can not say what to do or not. Just our experience and choices, Sorry.

It’s true we have to make our own choices. In this case, I’m trying to learn what choices are available. If I understand you correctly, rest is the only thing that has worked for you.

Rest or more falling apart in bed, is all left to do. No meds or so for me, but that is my choice.

Wow what a painful storie, respect that you turned out doing so good now. Comparing to you, it is all peanuts.

Lavender and peppermint essential oils and plants. Rick Simpson Oil (RSO) for those over the legal age limit. Real CBD also helps. I recommend this brand because I use this one: https://www.rebotanicals.com/

Check out Sota Brand products. Almost nobody knows about them. Originally created by Bob Beck. They are medical devices that use natural solutions and they really work better than most things were told. I have the BioTuner for natural frequencies, the magnetic pulser for healing inflammation and removing heavy metals and the water ozonator to naturally disinfect water.. (The benefits are endless and Life changing.) Worth every penny.

Also healthy fats like those found in avocados or (real wild caught salmon) and proteins, nuts, seeds, (sunflower, hemp, pecans, walnuts, cashews) for example help me in my case. I follow a consistent plant-based food system for the past few years, so I always have an abundance of legumes and OMEGA 3-s which help me fight headaches. Keep in touch with your B vitamins. Those are vital.

Well that explains a lot to me. My main diet now (that just happens to be all I want these days) is beans of every kind. Beans potatoes and cornbread with a slice of onion and tomato fixed in every way imaginable. It’s been a minute since I’ve had to take any Benadryl so I guess that explains it!!

Get any app about the food additive advice, which will help in deciding risks with some food ingredient panels. Some of my migraines are set off by MSG code 621, Nitrites 220, and some food raising additives especially in GF breads. I can have a migraine reaction within 30 minutes with these. I’m in Australia so our food panels can be more detailed than some other countries. Also, for me, Migraines can be set off if I have increased Gluten (This can have a bigger impact I think for women, as there is a digestive impact with some natural hormone breakdown). So, consider foods that might be impacting diet such as general intolerance items. Taking Probiotics, or preferably fermented foods daily can help. Including cranberries or pomegranate foods can help with certain gut bacteria which improve stomach digestive lining. The is a big connection between gut health and brain reaction. Consider impacts of Sress, and sudden body changes such as hot-cold temperature or foods, high-low elevation changes, High sugar or carb intake, Freezing food, etc.

I shared a house for several years with an RN who was subject to migraines. After noticing that she’d gotten one shortly after using tea tree oil, we started monitoring hormone shifts – headaches nearly always occurred just before and just after a period; and tea tree oil contains an estrogen simulator, so we concluded that her particular sensitivity involved estrogen. Other than avoiding things that contain estrogen simulators (and a lot of shampoos, conditioners, deoderants, etc. have them) we didn’t come up with an effective treatment; just knew when to anticipate them, and have painkillers on hand.

I have tried everything, and my Cefaly is the only thing that gives me any relief from my headaches. I swear by Cefaly Dual migraine device. They have 10% off for September.

I suffered from migraines for years and I tried everything my doctor told me to do without any luck. About two years ago I changed my diet and I haven’t had one migraine since. I don’t eat any sugar, even sucrose from fruit(berries and grapefruit only). Zero carbohydrates for the most part, after 1.5 years I started eating potatos and yams again. Healthy fats, avocados, nuts, grass fed meats. And a ton of vegetables. No only have got rid of my migraines, my visions has improved, I lost 55 pounds, I have a ton of energy.

    Hey TnMama,

I’m sorry for the late reply. I have been on and off the road every few days for the past 6 weeks.

I am unclear why the child is on statins so I am assuming this is an adult nephew?

I read over all the contribution of the others here. I am going to make a bunch of bold statements now and while I believe that all these folks are sharing their 100% true stories of their experiences ~ the bold statements I am making is not to diminish their experiences, but to shine a light on what I have observed as solid solutions in working with THOUSANDS of families over the past 13 years.

    SOLUTIONS FOR MIGRAINES:

    – REMOVE ALL PLANT MATERIAL – including all plant oils, nuts, legumes, beans, fruits, even avocados and HEMP. -YES- REMOVE ALL PLANTS including and especially all the grains.

-WHEAT is the worst of all these plants. It has a higher glycemic index than sugar. It is like HEROIN. SUPER ADDICTIVE and the withdrawal symptoms of removing wheat is almost like coming off of heroin for a lot of people. You cannot get off sugar or dairy(commodity dairy especially) without first removing wheat.

-DAIRY is our carbs but only RAW DAIRY is real food. Everything else is a chemistry project and is = POISON.

-DAIRY is not the bad guy when it is raw, grassed and A2/A2 FULL FAT Dairy. HOWEVER – until you are off sugar for at least 2-5 years, it is recommended to skip ALL DAIRY as it promotes addiction.

-INCREASE FAT and REMOVE ALL PLANTS and watch 101 pains and problems wash away with headaches of all kinds, especially migraines will go away.

-IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE PLANTS – you will remain a chemistry project and you can try all the 1000000001 combinations of solutions while you claim there isn’t a ONE SIZE FITS ALL HUMANS solution. We are ALL THE SAME in regards to our digestive systems. The level of damage we have allowed plants to have on our bodies is different, but the solutions are NOT DIFFERENT.

-STOP POISONING THE BODY WITH PLANT MATERIAL and experience relief!

-COOK WITH Ghee, Butter, Pork Lard, Beef Tallow, Duck Fat, Chicken Schmaltz, Bear Fat! ANY ANIMAL FAT but get rid of all seed oils, olive oil. avocado oil, nut oils, seed oils include sunflower seed oil, coconut oil. YES – these cause hormonal dysfunction!

-JUST EAT MEAT from 4 legged creatures. – Beef, Butter, Bacon/grassed pork or milk fed and grassed pork, Pasture Raised Eggs with Yolk! Use mined salts, distilled waters and iodine to manage all other imbalances.

-PARS – your pars should look something like 2-4# of meat a day for a woman, 4-6# of meat per day for a man.

    RULES:

1- See Sun (or look at the sky) with naked eyes before you eat anything every day for 10-15 minutes.

2- No Coffee/Tea before you eat! These are diarrhetic and appetite suppressants. ONLY drink between 11am-2pm if you plan to have any at all during the day.

    3- Eat between 8am & 11am and then again between 3pm & 6pm (preferably before sunset) daily.

FOLLOW these 3 rules to create the most balanced hormonal system and optimal health without using pills/potions and or tonics.

I hope this contribution is helpful.

    Blessings,

    Niti

You are right, it helps and if you forget you will notice it right away.

Even before going to bed magnesium, to prevent cramps or restless legs or headache.

As far as I know alway have a “light” headache, it is what it is.
