I may have gone a little overboard with the first aid cabinet 😆

I also have a couple sets of crutches and a wheelchair if needed.

That doesn’t look bad at all. I have 99.9% of my first aid at the offsite location because I just don’t have room here. I have a small amount of necessary supplies here in the trailer and my trauma bag in the truck. I am glad you reminded me about crutches and other assistive devices though. I have braces and things, but I hadn’t thought about crutches, wheelchair or other things that might be needed to go WITH a brace/support.

We got the crutches from a thrift store. And about a month later, I stuck my foot with the sharp side of a t-post. Again, God’s timing was perfect. I used the crutches to get around for a couple of days.

I broke a bone in my foot in August and couldnt find a walking boot in stock anywhere! It was going to take Amazon over two weeks to get one to me. So er-body: Put walking boot on your list of preps! Might not hurt to have splints for arm/hand too.

I do have an interchangeable walking boot AND arm splints in this pic and every joint brace you can imagine. Lol.

Not overdone. Maybe more wound dressing items needed.

All of that stuff is in the tubs. Lots of bandages, band aids, gauze, cottonballs, slings, antibiotic creams and antiseptics. All tools like tweezers, scissors, sutures, blood pressure kit, ice packs, heat packs, muscle rubs and ligiments. An important thing to make sure we have also is surgical gloves. I really don’t think I’m missing anything. But please let me know if anyone thinks of anything else I may need.

I don’t think one can go overboard. It is crazy out there. We decided that if there is some resources left on our health spending account, we will purchase necessary wraps of sort. I already picked up some wrist, elbow, and hand braces. We have knee and ankle.
I have plenty of gauze and adhesive bandages (including skin sensitive ones for myself), yet will be making some large cotton wraps, similar to what used to be in first aid kits, about the size of a large banana.
This is a nice reminder for myself to get get a little extra peroxide.

No not at all, we have first aid for people and animals as a veterinarian. Prepare and get together to work together is the best you can do.

We did a project years ago, for setting up safe adresse to ca ll for help, first aid or protection. Mostly for children and woman. We had 10 police dogs at that time, sadly a lot of visitors for the wrong reasons but they were safe in unsafe times. So the parents could pick up their kids, to go home safe and sound.

I would suggest perhaps a couple of mason jars with sterile water to pour over / cleanse wounds. next time you can and have an extra place for a jar put water in the jar and have it for emergencies.

Another thing you can add is a phone list, list of nurse friends that are nearby that can walk you thru an emergency. When an emergency happens, you don’t think straight so having the numbers ready for the call can save time when seconds count.

Thank you for sharing your preps!

I really have found a Pulse Oximeter to be another good tool and they are not expensive. I couldn’t tell by the photos but is your BP set all integrated or is the stethoscope separate? If it is all integrated I would have a separate stethoscope for listening to heart lungs etc. I’m a big fan of Vet wrap.

I tend to have allergies when I cut grass or hay. I have found a Neti Pot reduces the need for drugs.

Did you have an analog thermometer?

I do not have an analog thermometer. That’s an excellent thing to have! I’ll have to get one 👍

I couldn’t see the picture but I have white cotton sheets from the thrift store that can be boiled and bleached for bandages. Cayenne pepper works as blood stop. Most kids and animals only let you try it once. Lol. And white cotton thread to crochet bandage ace wraps. The directions are online.

What’s your pattern for the crochet ace bandages? I have ace bandages, but you know they wear out over time…and I have lots of yarn 😀

LDS Humanitarian Services has a pattern. If you are on Pinterest search crochet bandages for several patterns. Also look up Leprosy bandages.

Corn starch stops bleeding.Buy some curved needles like upholstery needles(the smaller ones)&unwaxed/unflavored dental floss or fishing string in case you have to sew somebody up.Learn the different types of dressings such as wet to dry dressings for deep wounds.Half strength Hydrogen Peroxide to clean wounds or make Normal Saline Solution-which is like the salt&water in your body.First aid for man&beast will be extremely important&you can never have enough supplies…..
