Cover crops

I found this website called “Cover Crop Exchange” out of NE. They have a great price for cover crops such as alfalfa. They said they get their seed source from different state and sometime from Canada. They said those farmers who sold alfalfa seeds do spray herbicide on their field before planting but NOT after planting alfalfa seeds…so would you buy their alfalfa seeds? Their price is half of the price compared to other online store? I am in AR if that helps. Thank you.

It really depends on what herbicide is used.

I see…since there is no way to contact the farmer who grew those alfalfa to ask them of what herbicide they use, would you risk it for great price. For example, the Cover Crop Exchange price of 50-pound bag is about the same as 25-pound bag if buy at another online store and it’s not even organic. If organic, the price is even higher. We are new at this, still learning and experimenting growing alfalfa so weighing in cost vs risk…lol. Thanks.

That’s personal preference. If you are organic or want to be organic, you have to wait 3 yrs to be certified organic after using the seed.
