Columbia Beans and Produce – buy these beans

I was gonna save this idea for when SHTF but if I don’t share now it won’t help as many people.

I know a bean company that sells beans that sprout and grow.

I tested a few types of beans and they all are good producers.

The company name is “Columbia Bean and Produce” out of Moses Lake, WA state.

WinCo foods carries this brand in their bulk food section. I know WinCo is in Texas and a few states in the Midwest. It might be close enough for the boys in the south to grab cheap bean seeds in bulk.

I recently bought Mung beans and sprouted them, I don’t know if they will produce fruit BUT….

You can eat fresh sprouts all winter, stir fry them in dishes also.

They are kind of expensive at 2$ / LB. I would say well worth the cost when you can store them for years and sprout fresh veggies during times when nothing grows.

Pics below are of the successful black beans, 2/3 of the row I planted got destroyed by a rogue chicken but I got a decent harvest from a few plants.

The other beans I know will produce are Mayo Coba, Navy, and Great Northern varieties.

I grew these also but with poor results because I never planted them into the ground.

They grew and fruited but were not happy about being root bound in pots.

Hiding in my hole the past decade coming up with ways to help everyone.

I try not to leave the house if at all possible. And my sleeping schedule is erratic so I have extra time to think. My boss is an A-hole but at least I’m self employed.

I’m pounding out as much as I can because the symptoms of Europe collapsing are enough evidence for me to think we are on the cusp of the collapse. I’m hoping someone will take notice of a few of these ideas and use them to make life better.

Yep, you can plant any dry beans from the grocery.

I also plant grocery potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc.

Last year I bought some hot Hungarian wax peppers from the Amish and saved some seeds. Planted them this year and they were the first to produce. I’ve picked a lot off those peppers.

Yes! I’m the guy that picked up the “bad veggies” from the back of a grocery store chain to feed animals.

I planted Miyashige Daikons so the tops would regrow and seed for me. Some of the carrots will survive for more than 1 year of seeding. They are monsters.

I also did some Detroit beets for seed and that went well also.

Most of the bad veg went to my chickens, they are savages and hunt mice and snakes. For egg layers, White LegHorns are my favorite! I can’t believe how well they survive the wildlife while free ranging.

There’s a reason FogHorn LegHorn is a cartoon character.

The store closed down 6 months ago so I don’t get fresh old veggies anymore but I tell you what, I fed a lot of “2 legged animals” with that free deal.
