Hello, I’m trying to learn how to homestead. I live in Texas I’m not a lot of land at all. Just want to slowly learn with something small and not too overwhelming. I am terrible at keeping plants alive and have no knowledge about gardening what so ever. Can anyone give me advice on what to plant in one raise garden bed/ what brands/ how to? I need a lot of detail bc I have no clue what to do.

    Thank you!

      Hi there,

I highly suggest starting with one plant and starting to learn that plant with the help of youtube.

A channel I suggest you follow on youtube is this one, as he lives in Texas and knows what you are going thru.

Hello Morgans, What part of Texas are you in? This is a huge state with widely varying climate, soils and water availability. I am in S.E.Texas and have land outside of Victoria.

The basics are the same everywhere. Start with a soil test. Your county ag agent might do it for you. Correct mineral deficiencies, up the biologic activity and start trying to grow your plants. There is a highly recommended book:

“Gardening when it counts” by Steve Soloman. $16.87 on Amazon.

Some boards here are more active than others, I suggest you post in DeepSouthHomestead group as it has the most activity.
