My Visit To Deep South Homestead
Visiting Deep South Homestead
The most precious gift you can give another is your time, Friday I was Blessed. I arrived early and was met by Wanda and a chicken who had escaped earlier, tempting me to add chicken to the list of things I wanted to take with me. Danny arrived in moments and greeted me with a big hug. They offered a tour of the place I see almost every day on YouTube, I felt like I was with friends I’ve known for years, we hoped in Wanda’s Kubota. It’s awesome, metal with the ability to dump stuff easily from the back, ( I Love it and will be looking for one too) am very partial to Kubota, I think it was a 2014 model, could be wrong about model, anyway. Wanda picked us a handful of raspberries and I tasted a Kumquat, which is another tree I now must add to my land, it’s delicious. I got to walk all around and take in the actual size of the cabin, I could imagine relaxing and sitting there reading her cookbook from the 1930’s, it’s perfect with a view out the window, the fireplace to warm you on a cold day, on my list to build, ( pay-as-I-go debt free, probably will take me 7 years to accomplish ). The barn with the rabbits, y’all those mama rabbits are way bigger in person. Am use to seeing the size of their male rabbits at pet shop and from a distance eating my garden, didn’t realize how big rabbits really get. The high tunnels are 16 feet wide with plenty of space between the rows, actually being there in person is so much different for me. I got multiplying onions, aloe and peppercorn plants and a shrimp plant too, sugarcane and mysterious squash seed with red ripper peas seed. Watching YouTube am amazed at how homesteader get so much done with their property. Friday, so many things filled my mind, time went by so quickly for me, there was so much to take in, what I thought would be a quick visit tuned into a 3 hour tour, now that I have walked and seen in person the homestead, I can see how I can accomplish my dream on my 7 acres of bottomland. I only took a few photo because I wanted to be totally in the moment, it was so much to see and I was having an amazing time. Deep South Homestead is 30 minutes from the coast, it’s some beautiful country, I have to make another trip to take photos this time was just for some wonderful memories, present in the moment.
