I order from Fedco or Pinetree a lot. I like Fedco because you can order by the packet, or ounce. Pretty sure one of those will have them.

I have ordered from Gurneys this past spring. Then I ordered an Heirloom Seed package from heavensharvest.com , excited to see what these do. We are still new to all of this. Building a greenhouse currently.

How many do you need? I have way more seeds then I need from what I grew this year. Would be happy to send some your way. Some of the Amish paste got as large as 1 pound. I think there is a way to private message someone on here. If there is just send me your address and I’ll be happy to send you some.

I am not sure on the private messaging on here yet either. I just informed my wife of your suggestion and she was excited. We grew quite a few roma’s this year, and with those we only had one plant that did not have a blossom end rot issue. Do not want to go through that again next year. I would love to have you send me some as soon as I can figure how to send you the private message for address.

If you click on the little picture of the person you want to connect with and go to their page, you can choose “Connect” from there. I think I read that you can do a private message from there.

I order lots of seeds from Hoss and Gurney’s BUT pelleted gypsum ended blossom end rot for me. I throw a handful in each hole before I plant, mix it well with the soil and plant on top. Zero blossom end rot.

I tried the calcium nitrate in the soil and that didn’t help, I’ll try that the next time. 🙁

When you have the blossom end rot are you watering regularly or intermittently? Irregular watering such as watering a lot after forgetting to water for a while can do it. Also, take a look at the pH. If this old brain is working correctly this morning I think that I remember the optimal range being 6 – 6.8. Certain nutrients are only available/mobile to be taken up by the roots in certain pH ranges. Some people get uncomfortable with the science approach. If that’s a bit funky for you one can never go wrong with working in well rotted compost (top dressing as well) and mulching well. If you tend to have a busy life a good mulch layer will help to keep the soil moist and somewhat buffer the tendency for irregular watering. sorry for the long winded response. Hope it’s helpful.

I’ve used powdered milk mixed into the soil at the bottom of the planting hole, as well as being diluted and used as a foliar spray.

OK EVERYONE, I’m going to permanently fix your blossom end rot.

The supplements I use are black strap molasses and Perma-Gard fossil shell flour (diatomaceous earth)…

NOOOO! DE is not just for bugs, don’t tell me that for the 100th time. lolol

DE is a diatom that is really good at fine water filtration, that is why it is used in swimming pool filter systems. 1 of the main reasons pools are sparkling clean is from DE.

I use a fist size volume of each ingredient and disperse it into a 5 gallon jug of water. I have experimented and have yet to have seen symptoms of over feeding. Tomatoes love it when they are fruiting. As soon as the yellow flowers form start adding the DE molasses combo to the soil and water it in.

THE KEY IS TO CONSTANTLY AGITATE THE WATER AS YOU WATER THE PLANTS, OTHERWISE THE DIATOMACEOUS EARTH WILL FORM A LAYER AT THE TOP OF THE SOIL THAT WILL SLOW WATER FLOW IN THE DIRT. YOU WANT THE DE TO REACH THE ROOTS.

That being said, my mater plants will stick out 2 ft sideways while holding fruits and hold their own weight. Once the fruits swell with water the branches will fall to the ground but the branches don’t break.

If you want a resilient plant structure and no blossom rot, take notice.

The ingredients are still cheap in bulk and go a long way for a homestead

More or less my recipe.. During early fall add Pulverized eggshells.. Couple weeks before add pelleted bovine/chicken manure, ground hoof/horn, P205 . At transplant in the hole add worm compost, little Mycorrhiza. when see flowers set good start feeding borland solution which is made from extract of Molasses has high potassium content with extremely low N and void of P… I use Zeolite at 6 microns as a nebulized spray and also add another form more course of it to soil…

Zeolite has similar properties of DE as a insect control on soft body but also deters like clay on larger munching bugs… helps control solar scalding and leaf hydration.. this year is first year applied and even in 95+ never had leaf curling like previous year…

I currently order seeds from four sources: Baker Creek, Gurneys, Totally Tomatoes, and Hoss Tool.

Recently, I’ve noticed that seed germination rate from Baker Creek seeds have gone down. No problems with the other three sources in that respect.

For my tomato plants, I currently only use seeds from Totally Tomatoes.

I purchased their Sugar Rush Peach Pepper and only 3 seeds germinated but died before even getting a second set of leaves. Their sweet banana peppers were excellent producing a lot of peppers and their 1500 year old Cave Bean is awesome. I am using them as a dried bean and waiting for tons of pods to dry on the vine. The plants grew around 9 feet tall!

Just started ordering from Baker Creek. I had good luck this year. My daughter had spotty luck with germination last year. I have had good luck with Totally Tomatoes, Tomato Growers and Pinetree in the past. Going to check out Hoss Tools. I’ve seen them mentioned other places as well.

Over the last 15 years I’ve had good luck with ordering off ebay believe it or not. I just make sure the seeds are NOT coming from China. I usually try and buy from states that have a climate similar to ours here in southern Va But I have gotten good seeds from all over our country including Florida and Maine

I also go to Etsy sometimes as well. You can find some good offerings there but be careful who you buy from.

MI Gardener has Amish Paste. Currently $2.00 a packet. His seeds are good. Last year I got Orange Oxheart from him and it is now one of my favorite tomatoes.

We used migardener for the first time this year for quite a few varieties all were 2$ a packet and all did great from germination to harvest, although I will say the Amish paste had the lowest yield between them and the Roma’s and San marzanos we grew.

True Leaf Market has the organic Amish Paste Tomato seeds on their site and they are shown as being in stock, but somewhat pricy in my opinion. $3.29 for ~25 seeds is the only option currently available. I haven’t yet grown any of the seeds I’ve purchased from them, but they come nicely packaged and they have a huge variety of seeds available.

I just got my order from MI Gardener. I also got my order from Annie’s Seeds and even Lowes. I buy heirloom and organic seeds. Buying from a few different companies every year works for me, being I heard a certain company had a bad year for seed germination this past year. Incredibly, I’ve had the best germination rates from Annie’s Heirloom Seeds.

I started seed saving about 5 years ago, but I keep looking for the best out there to add to my collection.

I have ordered from Baker Creek, Hudson Valley Seed, Seeds of change. I have checked out Tradewinds Fruit. Check out Laurel’s Heirloom Tomatoes. They have pictures, descriptions and the history of how alot of them originated.

I like to order from Mary’s heirloom seeds. She also has a you tube channel that is very informative.
