Jar rings popping off while hot water bathing

I’ve canned for over 50 years and this is a first for me. I canned cranberry juice yesterday two of the jar ring just popped off. I thought i might not have tightened the lids enough but It happened 4 more times in the next two canning. I know they were screwed on right. Has this happened to any one else? I’ve used the jars many times, the flats were new but this was the first time I reused these rings. I’m just glad I was canning juice instead of meat! Has this happened to anyone else?

I’ve had this happen. I know you’re not happy about it but I’m glad to hear it’s happening to experienced canners, too. I was starting to wonder if I was doing something wrong but if you screw all the lids on the same way it’s weird to have only one back off the jar.

You may want to check out Forjars seals. I’ve been using them and haven’t had any issues. You can order online and there is a sale on now I believe.

Recently I had a few rings do this also. I wonder if they’re skimping on the glass threads on new jars. I’ve had these rings a long time, but some of the jars are new.

Mine were just the opposite. New rings but old jars.

I thought no Suttons Daze on YouTube, or maybe it was someone else, I can’t recall, tried using two rings, finger tight and that seemed to hold the first ring down.

I only had that happen when I tried the rings with the blue seal. None of my ForJars or Ball have done that. If interested in ForJars, I have links in the descriptions of our videos on Crazy Dazes and Deep South. I may comment here on either. I forget to switch. But Loving the app

Now that’s a possibility. The lids I was using had the blue material on them too. Thank you for the link . I’ll check it out. I love the app too I would like to be able to read my post before submitting them. I mess up a lot lol

I will NOT use the blue seal. I tested them for the company. They failed first canner. Exploded the rings off in the first 5 minutes of pressure. I do not recommend them.
