Notifications and Messages
I wish I was as ‘techy’ as I once was, but I guess we all lose something with age. Trying to learn this new platform (I’ll sure be happy when the app comes out lol) I’m having trouble with notifications and messages. In notifications, I get a LOT of notifications from others who are simply replying to the various forums/conversations that I’ve commented on but not replying directly to my comments. In messages, I’ve tried sending a message to one person but it always turned it into a group message then tells me that I need to be connected to everyone in the message to continue the conversation. I couldn’t figure out how to stop that or the message notifications that kept coming from it showing others added to the message but I couldn’t even access the message itself or any responses, so I just hid the messages because there was no option to delete it. Now I’m still getting message notifications but can’t access the hidden messages to clean them out.

Bottom left go your account. Click notification settings you can adjust what you see.

Tag, I’m on my phone. There isn’t anything on the bottom left. I went to ‘account’ in the menu and ‘notification preferences’ but I didn’t see anything that related to the issues I’m encountering.

Hey Julie,
In the area called discussion forums, click on the Web button and you will see the option to uncheck getting a web notification when new discussions you are subscribed to have a new message posted.
To clear existing notifications on your phone, go to the bell icon at the top right corner of your screen, click on View Notifications, then click on the Read button. You can delete them individually by clicking on the Trash can icon, or delete multiple or all of them by using the Bulk Actions feature.

Hey Tag, I think there is a bug with some new notifications. Some notifications default to the Unread section and they should stay there until the user either click on them which changes the status to Read or deletes them. However, I am having some notifications show up on the Read section even though I did not click on them. This seems to happen when I am not active on the site. I know know to click over to the Read section to clear them but just something to add to the list to address. Thanks!

I’m on the app and as I press view the notification; the notification disappears and never goes to the post.

I’m having the same issue that @JulieDogmom is having. My first message was one that was sent to a gazillion members and said that I had to “connect” with all participants in order to view the conversation. Well, I’m not here for mass “connections” like some of the other social media sites, so I choose to hide the conversation. And now it appears that the conversation is still going on and giving me messages notifications…none of which I can see. How do you “unhide” a message conversation? Or, how do I remove myself from that hidden conversation? Or , if I’ve hidden that conversation, why am I still getting notifications from it?

That first message with a never ending list of participants was deleted thinking it was spam or junk.

I have 103 unread messages but still can’t see any of em 😩

Ouch! I am only up to three message notifications and already my OCD is kicking in.
But I’m sure that with the new-ness of the platform it will all be corrected eventually.

Someone apparently cleaned out the previous 160-ish I had but now I’m back up to 131

I have 19 that I can not see. Apparently a bug. I have used 2 different browsers on my phone and 1 on the computer, same issue.

Mine clears out every several days and starts over. It was reset yesterday and I’m up to 57 again. Bugs take time to work themselves out

Tag, don’t apologize. You’ve taken on a monumental task and things take time to work out the gremlins. Take whatever time you need need to get things the way you want them. You’ve already done so much to bring over 10k people together in a short time. That’s HUGE!
