Thanks so much for such a great site. For a Beta, you’ve done an outstanding job out the gate. My compliments to the designers/builders. I’ve done a few extensive databases in my time and this is exceptional. I’d love to know what software you’re using? A few things that might make it easier or more user friendly and effective:
• When I click to be notified of replies via email, I’m not getting any notifications and need to get on the site online to check for replies vs screening emails on my phone as I usually do. However, I do receive an email notification if a new discussion is started elsewhere (not related to what I’m watching for replies on), which seems odd.
• When replying to someone’s post, it would be really helpful to be able to see what they wrote and not have it covered up completely by the text window. My work-around is to copy and paste what they wrote into my reply and then delete it as I respond, but that’s a bit cumbersome, especially if their post is long. If I could just reply while I’m seeing their message and able to scroll up/down to view what they wrote as I’m replying, it would be a big plus.
• When I receive notifications and click the bell to select one, it takes me to the beginning of that group or the beginning of that discussion, and not to the actual message/post itself. I have to search for their message in the full discussion, and if I don’t remember to read the tag line before I click it, then it’s harder to find and I have to search for the latest message or go to the end of the discussion, which is now getting to be several pages long in some cases. A few times, I haven’t been able to find their reply. It would be helpful to jump right to that part of the discussion where their message is when I click the notification bell and choose their specific response. I can always go back from there if I need a reminder of the previous content or context of the discussion.
My compliments to the entire development team. Seriously, great job. The functionality you have built into this Beta is so appreciated. You’re on your way to blowing social media out of the water as far as I’m concerned, and the like-minded aspect of the membership puts this site head and shoulders above all the rest for me. I can’t even figure out how to open and read a reply. I get the first 10 words or so but cannot figure it out.

In the left menu, go to My Messages and it will open a screen with the member you have received or sent messages to. You can select the user and the thread of any discussions you have had with them will display. There will be a box at the bottom of the screen to reply to them.

I have…but suddenly this morning it opened your reply. There are LOTS of coding issues in new programming. Thanks for your help.

Accessing my messages as you outlined here has never functioned as you described. I’m sure they’re working nonstop on debugging. Reporting issues helps them know what to focus on. I imagine they’re tackling the most critical items first and prioritizing the rest as time permits. Blessings!
