A Q&A Thread (also called a Question Thread) is a special thread type in our Freesteading Community designed for asking and answering specific questions.
This format helps highlight the correct or most helpful answer for future readers.
When creating a new thread in a forum that supports it, you’ll often see a “Question” option (alongside regular Discussion, Poll, etc.). Once posted, the thread displays voting controls and a clear way to mark the best answer.
Perfect for: Help & support sections, knowledge bases, technical forums, or anywhere you want crowd-sourced answers with a clear “correct” solution.
If you have questions please feel free to ask below.
How to Create a Question & Answer (Q&A) Thread
- Click “Create Thread” in the desired forum.
- Choose Question as the thread type.
- Write a clear question as your title and in the first post.
- Post the thread.
- When people reply, you (or moderators) can mark the best answer by clicking “Mark as Solution” under the best reply.
This format helps highlight the correct or most helpful answer for future readers.
What it allows:
- The original poster creates a question as the thread starter.
- Other members post answers (replies) to the question.
- Community members can upvote or downvote each answer to highlight the best ones.
- The thread author (or moderators) can mark one answer as the Accepted Solution (best answer).
- Answers are usually sorted by votes or with the accepted solution highlighted at the top.
Key features:
- Focuses on finding a clear, definitive answer rather than general discussion.
- Shows which answer was accepted, making it easy for future readers to find the solution quickly.
- Great for support forums, troubleshooting, how-to questions, or any topic where people seek expert/helpful responses.
